Just wondering why is Piratenews allowed to post the stuff he does outside of the troll country?

Because Haken actually believes in free speech.
As garbage as his stuff is, I'll defend PN's ability to post it. I generally just read until I hit the word "Jew", then I'm out. Usually takes about three or four words to get there.

Free speech is good but there should be a place for trolling and BS.

Mike is basically righht, and I think that message should get through to him.
Myself, I ignore the word Jew, and all the other gratuitous adjectives. I find his posts to be fairly informative and insightful.
The counter argument I don't really understand. I'm never going to take *anyone's* word as gospel, I'm only *ever* using someone's post as a root to search from* so he whole sources thing also doesnt always make sense, though sometimes it does, like, i'd like to read more, ooint me somewhere.
* I even do this with frem who is quite credible. People who post from mainstream sources I usually end up ignoring because it tends to be stuff i've already read.
I like to read *all* opposing views, even those of nazis, and I'm jewish, and the descendent of holocaust non-survivors. I suspect Mince has a similar, but more mocking, take.

Think of it this way:
Would you really want a govt. Made entirely of democrats? Wouldn't such a discussion quickly degenate into a brain trust star chamber? Pretty soon, people would be reinforcing their own opinions, appointing themselves haralds of the truth, and no thinking would go on.
Now, take that logic and continue it to its logical extreme. If differing opinions are good, in that they make you think more, extreme differing opinions across an entire spectum are vastly superior, as they make you think even more.
Most lf the world's political systems have a much wider spectrum than ours (problem with a two party system) we need the outside perspectives of the lunatic fringe.
It's basically the same reason why the world community is better off with ahmadinejad than without him.
So, yeah, I'm likely to agree with a minority of what he posts, but the same is true of niki or auraptor. It's that minority that I'm here from. From everyone.
People don't get sent to troll country, only threads.
Everyone has something to contribute.

I have no problems with other opinions or other sources if they are part of an intelligent discussion. I've not seen that from PN. There are plenty of forums on the net that have very heated and varied discussions without allowing idiotic junk in.
...oh and if you think having a government full of Dems would just become brain trust star chamber you missed the health care debates.

There are occasions, Nick, albiet rare ones - he's not quite as crazy as he pretends to be, and while I get frustrated with him on many an occasion as well, I too am all for free speech, and view him as kind of our pet papparazi/tabloid vector.
There's also that I've a bit more sympathy cause I know at least in part how he got to be that way.
If dealing with PN is the only price free speech has around here, count thyself very, very lucky, cause I've seen much worse.

Stick around a wjile, I've learned a thing or two from pirate news.
As to the dem brain trust, yeah, sure, there is a dissenting voice within the party, but it gets squashed. We're having trouble even st the county level trying tommake the dem power groups see reasonl. At the town level, there's some sense of reason, but as you move up, power politics and corporate corruption take over.
The worst threat to our party is this idea that republicans are evil. On the majority of our issues, the overwhelming majority of the people support us, but the partisan hacks are capable of turning everything into a blue on red war, which quickly reduces a 90% mwjority to 50%, whereupon it only twkes a handful of corrupt corporate dems to concede and we lose the issue.
To me, this is an exercise in pure stupidity. I would only add that taking a number of suicide issues also doesn't help. We as a party have a number of positions that the majority of americans are never going to identify, and some that send people running. Sure. The other side does in equal share, but we would do well to at least keep mum about them.
Frem.
Lol. Axtually, some of the worst comes from the more upstanding members in their weaker moments. The psychological need to oppose can bring out the monster within.

^This.
Yes, most of what PN posts is garbage, but as they say, garbage has the right to be garbage.

I think we saw that pretty well. Public disagreement and the horse and pony show is not the same thing as what goes on in private. You want to know what goes on in private, then look at what actually comes out in the content of the bills that are produced. Ever wonder why they always have a few runners for big business that end up screwing the public far more than the few good ideas they pass to help us? There's a reason for that.
No single person on the RWED is a troll because they have reasons they act the way they do and aren't really trying to irritate other people.
We do have a couple of muckrakers, but they'll proudly admit to it, and they're still generally sincere about their beliefs.
