It was a fun mix of folks.

Since I designated myself the Host of the next meetup, I'm going to try to research the venues that Meetup.com presents us with next time and see if we can't get a space-friendlier environment.

Great.
If you want a suggestion for a place not on the Meetup list, I know of a good one near Hudson and Christopher.

Would that be the place near the White Horse you were telling QT about?

Yes -- Caffe Sha-Sha. It's a good place to sit around and talk because they don't mind people spending an hour over a cup of coffee. There's a back garden and fireplaces in the winter. It's mainly a coffee shop, but they have a weekend brunch until 4. Seating is around tables, not in booths.

But hey, there are a hundred places in the city.

True, and nothing says we HAVE to use the venues that Meetup gives us...

*waves, too*

QueenTiye, Unovis and Clandestiny - It was really great to meet you and the other browncoats who showed up at the meetup. I am looking forward to next month's meetup already!

I think an enjoyable time was had by all, and I would encourage any browncoats in the area to consider attending the next one.

And Clandestiny is going to be a great host - he can spot a FF fan from a mile off!

Keep in touch, guys.

:Old Fart Voice:

Why, when you've been a fan as long as I have, young'un, ya can spot yer own kind a mile away! (Cackles, then succumbs to coughing fit.)

But seriously, folks. Yeah, I certainly do hope all Browncoats in the NY/NJ area will consider joining us. It's been a long time since I've had the chance to sit in restaurants for hours on end with a group of people, laughing hysterically, getting strange looks from the other customers and extra attention from the wait staff, who know a decent tip table when they see one.

Okay, I signed up. Yay! Although now I'm listed above Clandestiny, the almighty host. Anyone else going to the Pennsylvania shindig? This meetup will give me a chance to meet those of you who are going. Oh, and is this usually held on Saturdays? That would be ideal, since I'm in NJ. But I got my NJ Transit bus pass ready to go!

ETA: Well, duh. I just noticed on the MeetUp site that meets are the first Saturday of every month. There's my answer, fishbulb!

Hiya, RhymePhile! Welcome aboard!

(As for being "almighty," though... ahhhhhhh, NOTsomuch. More like "sorta-kinda-almost-demi-mighty...with help.")

We can't start voting on where the BDM (Big Damn Meetup) will be until this coming Saturday; I hope everyone will start peeking into Meetup.com to cast their votes.

I don't know if anyone noticed, but the first Saturday in September is the weekend of Labor Day. Might this put a wrench into some people's plans?

Hmm. That's a good point. I myself don't have any particular Labor Day plans, so I didn't consider that.

We have a couple of options:

1. See how many folks will be around for that date regardless.

2. Jettison the Meetup.com-assigned date and just have our own scheduled Meetup whenever the most folks are able to make it.

3. Forget September altogether and go for the following first Saturday in October (this is dead last on my personal list of choices.)

Anyone care to chime in with thoughts?

I am definitely going to try to go to the PA shindig, too. I don't have a car, though, so I have been looking into taking a train or something. If there is a group of us going, maybe we could carpool...
