New York Firefly Meetup! WAY COOL! :)

So - today I went to my first ever Firefly Meetup.
Yeah, my city and all that - I was the last one to show up because I was lost.... Since I knew how to get to W. 38th between 5th & 6th, I didn't bother carry the rest of the address or the phone number the meetup site. Bad idea. The name of the restaurant (according to the menu and according to the Meetup instructions) was Wolf Bay P.S. restaurant. According to the sign outside - the restaurant is just P.S. restaurant. Well, I forgot all about the Bay and the P.S. and was looking for "Wolf"... Anyway, finally figure it all out, get there, and YAY! There's Cardie, who told me about the Meetup, and who I know from the former SlipstreamBBS and the current Ex Isle, and who I also know from here, and some other faces I don't know. We had a really great time, and Cardie is really good people! We had a whole bunch of fun chatting about fandom in general, and I'm glad I finally got to do something like that!
I promised to start a thread, but I was recalcitrant and forgot about it until now! :( Anyway, here it is, and I hope some of the other Browncoats from the NYC mission chime in! ;)

i'm a browncoat, near NYC but unfortunately i'm not as proactive as i should be in finding other NY browncoats. i wish i woulda known about the meetup. how many ppl were there? am i invited to the next one? plz let me know all about it!!!!

Oh, well. Anyway, yes, a terrific time was had, and not just because I was the only set of XY chromosomes at a table full of XXs. 
As promised, I have made myself the "Host" for the next Firefly Meetup, so anyone from the NY/NJ area, or even outside it, who wants to join us for the next one should head over to http://firefly.meetup.com, check out the New York section, and sign up.

Glad you liked the JLU. If you want to track down the original story it was based on, it was in Superman Annual 11, published in 1985. I may even still have my copy...

Ditto, on the chance to meet people and chatter away. Next time, we need a round table and a little more elbow room.
It was a fun mix of folks.

Since I designated myself the Host of the next meetup, I'm going to try to research the venues that Meetup.com presents us with next time and see if we can't get a space-friendlier environment.

If you want a suggestion for a place not on the Meetup list, I know of a good one near Hudson and Christopher.
