I love Red Dwarf.
What is Red Dwarf? It's a British comedy/sci-fi show about some people who get stranded in deep space. Lister is the human that went into stasis. While he was out, the entire crew got wiped out in a radiation leak. When he gets out, all that's left is himself; the stupid talking computer, Holly; a hologram of his dead bunkmate and enemy, Rimmer; and a humanoid that evolved from his cat's kids (They just call him Cat). Then they pick up a robot named Kryten and eventually, Listers long lost love, Kristine Kochanski. They go around the universe encountering bizzar things like time travel, aliens, robots, all sorts of fun stuff. But it's a comedy, so it's really really funny. Lister is the slobbiest person ever. Rimmer is a neat an tidy person. They fight all the time. Cat thinks he is the coolest thing to ever exist and Kryten is obsessed with chores.
I don't know if it's still on, but you can get the DVDs.

Any US Firefly fans who haven't seen Red Dwarf should definitely check it out. Not that it's similar, but it is superb (though the last two series (7 & 8) were arguably slightly less brilliant).
And if you need further convincing, there's a tenuous Joss Whedon connection. Red Dwarf was mentioned by the Trio in season 6 of Buffy.

I've loved Red Dwarf for years. In fact, I have the first 4 DVD's. I made the mistake of loaning out number 2 to someone who never returned it, and I am still looking for it as a single to repurchase.
Now that I know Chris was in Tomb Raider, I guess I will just have to watch it. That man has some comedic timing.

I've been a 'Scaper, a Browncoat and a Smeghead since day one. Can anybody ELSE here say that? :)
Red Dwarf first came out in my area here in the states on the Seattle PBS station KCTS. They were into the third season in the UK, and were showing a marathon in the States to drum up donations for KCTS. I have every episode on tape, recorded off TV, the entire VHS run that was released, and the first four seasons on DVD. I also have autographs from Danny John-Jules, Craig Charles, Robert Llewellyn and Norman Lovett (Holly I) from various conventions they've attended in the northwest and from websites.
Yeah, I really like Red Dwarf, and it's a pity that the movie is in such limbo. However, I don't think the series has played as well since one of it's creators jumped ship back in the 90's. You can tell that Seasons 7 and 8 were just not as good as the first six, and that's a shame, because I thought the series started to get good in Season 3, then kicked major A$$ by Season 6. My favorite episode remains "Inquisitor."
Kryten - (Regarding the Inquisitor, a time-travelling robot set on eliminating those who have not lived a worthy life.) "He prunes away the wastrels, and deletes the worthless."
Rimmer - "We're in big trouble."
Anyhoo, I love that show and heartily recommend it to anyone who likes their sci-fi biting and humorous.

Oooo, I'm jealous. I have Danny John-Jules' autograph on two of the Red Dwarf books (which I keep in a ziplock whenever they leave the house).
My favorite episode would have to be either "White Hole", "Backwards", or "Demons and Angels".
