Just wondering how many of my fellow browncoats are Red Dwarf fans as well? I was happy to see Mal, the MST3K crew, and The Doctor on the 25 greatest sci-fi legends of all time, but I think Lister or Rimmer should have made the list as well. The show is the second longest running BBC show ever next to Doctor Who and it is gorram funny. The DVDs are now available and worth the money, so check them out and spread the word. There is an effort to bring this crew to the big screen and we need to support it through DVD sales. This is the best sci-fi comedy ever, so spend the money.

For the uninitiated, Lister is played by Craig Charles who hosted Robot Wars. One of the hosts of Junkyard Wars, Robert Llewellyn, played Kryten, and one of the vampires in Blade II was played by the same actor who played Cat in the series. The most banal connection to main stream success goes to Chris Barrie, who played the butler the Lara Croft movies.

You are correct. The movie is in production, but it has been in that state for a long time. The series ended in '98 and the movie has been hinted at since then. The actors are just getting older, and I'm just trying to create some buzz on a hot sci-fi site.
I'm glad to see that you are aware of the series and the film.

Huge Red Dwarf fan here. I own seasons 1-4 on DVD and are waiting patiently for season 5. 
Although they don't seem in a hurry to release it.

I agree! I LOVE Rimmer! Chris Barrie's the only reason I saw both Tomb Raider movies! lol!
Hopefully the'll get busy and actually finish the movie!

Well, I got season 1 and 2 one year and 3/4 the same month the following year, so best guess is I get 5/6 when I get my tax check next year!
Long time fan here - and making new fans every chance I get, which is easier with the DVD's
Stopped holding breath for movie, when I turned that lovely shade of blue, nice color but just not ... me.
Too many favorite scenes to count but have a special fondness for Mr. Flibble.

Red Dwarf V is being released (in the UK, at least) on November 8th. Series 6 is due to follow sometime in February 2005.

I also like Red Dwarf and, on the whole, I think it has actually been getting better and better. Only thing which is not so good is that Cat has got less cat-like. I didn't notice this at the time, as it happened very gradually... but when I re-watch episodes from older series, Danny John Jules is so feline I end up lmao.
