Well it was never going to have quite the same resonance as when I watched the original as a kid. I mean back then, I hardly knew what a computer was; I thought Tron was living inside my calculator!

So I went and watched Legacy for the spectacle more than anything and I was happy enough. Can't say I was engaged with the narrative quite as much as the original - but I was just thrilled to see Jeff Bridges make a return as Flynn. The visuals were impressive in parts and the design was lovely. Poor choreographed fight scenes though. That was a shame given the standard of such things these days. But the score. Wow! There was a moment there when the theme kicked in and I swear the hears on the back of my neck.... Beautiful score.

What pleased me more than anything though was that it impressed my girlfriend who ordinarily hates sci-fi! (She wont even watch Star Wars) So I was amazed when we came out and she said that now she wants to watch the original. That's a plus for sure. So for that I say well done Legacy.

That said I now hope they leave it there. It doesn't need another one.

I liked it a lot. Imax was a great way to see it......major eyecandy! I think it was a fine redo and better than the original. Of course when I saw the original it was pretty hot by the standards of the day.

The title is TRON Legacy.
Like how The Legend Of Zorro isn't actually about Zorro.

They're airing a television show. Looks to be animation and CGI on Disney XD.

Oh, and Chris, git it right. It's TRON, not Aliens.

End of Line, Man.

Even by that evaluation the title doesn't hold up. If anything the title Flynn: Legacy would be more apt. If I remember the original TRON was created as a security program. Since he was hacked/corrupted in the sequel what does that say about his legacy? It was Flynn senior who saves the day by finally getting off his ass to save his son. That was the only legacy I am seeing in this film.

Well, it was also shown that Flynn created the Tron video game...

What reason had proved best ceased to look absurd to the eye, which shows how idle it is to think anything ridiculous except what is wrong.

My take: Great visuals, pretty good action, Bridges was great.... his son was dull, and the script was sloppy and predictable. And it did a lousy job at exploring any of the concepts that carried over from the first, or the new ones it ntorduced.

Great eye candy, mediocre movie.
