I just saw Machete- hooo BOY what a hi-larious flick!!!! It's so over the top it makes Desperado look like a documentary! And Michelle Rodriguez... just amazing. Steven Seagal was a hoot! Non-stop action & ridiculousness. There's even a bit of a plot!!! You gotta see it!!
Also, Superman/ Batman Apocalypse- it's got to be the most action crammed DC movie yet! You get the feeling that there's a bigger story somewhere than this Cliff Notes version, and that's because there is, in a graphic novel. But the movie does a good job of condensing it IMO. Plus it just looks great.
I scored 2 for 2!

Got a few new cheap dvd's from Amazon recently :
Ice Pirates - had fond memories of this from the 80's, but upon first re-watching since then, man it really blows. Stay away!
Lifeforce - also had fond memories from the 80's. Still packs a punch, although somewhat slow in parts. Good visuals and effects. Well worth the money.
Big Trouble In Little China - Just a lot of fun movie. Very enjoyable!
Also, watched Night Of The Comet this weekend. Just gets better and better each time I see it. Has a style unto itself, and features great iconic 80's actors including Robert Beltran, Catherine Mary Stewart, Kelli Maroney, and everybody's favorite whacko, Mary Woronov.

I've got something right up your alley Chris. I recently watched Ip Man. I've been wanting to catch up on movies featuring Donnie Yen because his work in supporting roles has been always been incredible. This film was as good as advertised. Now I need to get my hands on the sequel...now with 100% more Sammo Hung!

Loved it. It was better than Planet Terror, and felt much more in the spirit of 70's Grindhouse flicks.
Watched Grease on Blu-Ray. Looked great.
Also watched Stand and Deliver on Netflix. Seeing it for the first time in widescreen(the s-dvd was full frame) and high definition. Fantastic.

I actually wasn't gonna go see Avatar till she busted my chops about it, and baited the hook by telling me her role actually involved one of our tricks from Space Cowboy/Ace Online/Air Rivals (M-Gear, side-strafing from behind cover).
So now I *have* to go see Machete, or imma hear it for being a jerk, gee thanks.
Recently watched:
Despicable Me - shoved on me by the niece, who seems to actually think imma supervillain, and it was surprisingly good, the minions stole the show, actually.
9 - visually beautiful, but the plot coulda used some work, given that they used such a huge idiot-ball to add conflict to the story, and that does kind of grate a bit.
Quite fond of Ice Pirates, Big Trouble in Little China myself - and Night of The Coment holds a special place for me, since working the deep dark hours of the night, my "world" is kinda like that sometimes, only (usually) without the zombies... unless you count the local skells wandering about sometimes.
On that particular brand of cheese, you might also rent They Live, as it fits themewise with the rest, there.
