Yeah, I'd love to see a pic of the Walnut colored one. Did you get one? Can you upload a photo?
Jayne, your mouth is talkin. Might want to look into that.

Always a beast, never a burden.
One of my favorite sellers of weird and obscure gear. I've spent hundreds, perhaps thousands with them over the years. I try to avoid browsing their site and catalogs without a specific item in mind, otherwise I tend to find things that I "need."
Particularly boots. I hate shoes, love boots, never wear shoes anywhere except work. Boots, boots, boots! Er... what was I talking about again?
Oh yes, the coat. I will check through my catalogs and their site, and post if I find anything.
I'm glad I'm not the only person that is interested in a coat like Mal's, otherwise I might think I was crazy. ;)

OK, I just got done doing a few hours of Google searching.
One thing I have discovered is that Mal's coat may fall under the category of frock coat, or rifle frock. I found that out while browsing the Wild West Shooter sites that contained clothing.
I did searches using those terms, suede trench coat, etc. I only had a few hits that turned up something close to what I was looking for. Not always available in the proper color, though. Just throwing them in for reference.

I found this while searching, and it seemed like something Wash or Jayne might like. I plan to get one of these for myself, even if I can't ever find a good brown coat: http://www.millvalleyleather.com/cgi-bin/shopper.cgi?preadd=action&key

Sorry to bump an old thread, but it makes more sense than making a new one about the same topic. ;)

The "walnut" color is in fact the darker brown. It is very similar in color to Mal's coat. This is the coat that I purchased & will be wearing to Dragon Con next week.

I ordered a coat from SPortsman's Guide recently. It wasn't as close a match as some of the others, but the price was right. I need an XL, because of my long arms, and it was on backorder. They say I should have it around September 21. It was listed on their site under "Classic Western" or something like that.

I actually went out and bought the coat at Adam Leathers (came to 300 canadian dollars in the end). It needs tailoring, as it's a lot longer then Mal's, but the colour and style is a perfect match.

You're right, it's not suede. But the cuffs are certainly just about right (they're basically adjustable), and as I said the colours are bang on. And I think the colours are most important, as matching colours to mal's coat are very hard to find.
Oh, regarding the pockets, there are only two front pockets, much like Mal's (if I recall correctly)

yeah dryzabones as we call em here in Aust. arent too bad for those living out on a farm, or those doing a firefly fan film :D i'd get one myself for that purpose, cept that my ex girlfriend goes out with this guy who wears the things around as his usual garb. not the most normalest things, but hel she is a tramp anyway :D. But yeah these coats are pretty good for western style outfits, they're sturdy as hell too, so they will last a bit. anyway they should stock some in america for thos eof you there.
