I admit I haven't watched Browncoats: Redemption myself. Is it a stand alone story? Would people unfamiliar with Firefly/Serenity understand it? Is it of a high enough quality that we would want it to represent Firefly/Serenity? I heard enough "looks like a made for TV movie" comments about Serenity itself. With the way everyone complains about Fox confusing viewers, it just seems like this would serve to add to the confusion.

I'll try to find some time to watch it and make a better judgment call on this. I'm just not sure all publicity is necessarily good publicity.

Zeek,Redemption is a stand alone story but it ties into the events of the Serenity,slightly. Mike Dougherty has said in many interviews that his intention was to tell a stand-alone story. Doing so freed him up from any concerns about stepping on the toes of Joss or other future creators for Firefly.
Regarding the quality of the film,well it was made for a shoestring budget by a buncha folk with only limited experience in this kinda thing but it's a hell of a lot more entertaining than Debbie Gibson and Tiffany joining forces for the schlockfest they filmed for SyFy.

Trust me,this is the good kind of publicity because it shows just how damn serious Browncoats can be,and how charitable,and those aren't bad things for the world to know.

I hardly ever make my way here but I figured I would stop and toss in my 2 cents.
1. Love the idea.
2. Love that somebody is crazy enough to come up with the idea.
3. They could show it every night, primetime, for a month and still come out on top by simply writing off the time as a corporate donation and get their money back at the end of the year. Add that to the positive bump in Karma they will get from bein all socially conscious and all...

/shrug. It kinda sells itself so...I'm in.

Even though I didn't really enjoy Browncoats Redemption all that much (sorry) I really respect the effort that was put into it and would like to see Syfy air it as recognition for that effort and to support the charities etc. plus to show the world that there are still browncoats out here who are excited about the verse.

Like I posted above, lots of folks have read this thread.
I say, it's time to misbehave...

Please e-mail feedback@syfy.com on Monday, March 28th, and ask your friends to do it too. Just politely suggest to syfy that they would generate a lot of good will by having a Charity Broadcast of Browncoats: Redemption.Several hundred (or more!) e-mails all arriving on the same day might get their attention!

Does that sound doable?
