I wouldn't call it bogus. It actually does illustrate a possible scenario. What's bogus about it is the numbers - we don't know where the contamination numbers came from or how or who did the time lapse modeling, if anyone did.

Just a quick update.

Fukushima I reactor 2 seems to be damaged. Valves normally used to vent off pressure is damaged. To compound the problem, there seems to be a leak in reactor 2 and workers are having difficulty maintaining the water level which led the fuel rods being exposed to air twice.

Under the current circumstances, I wish the Japanese wouldn't be so Japanese.

According to CNN:

[1:48 p.m. p.m. ET Monday, 2:48 a.m. Tuesday in Tokyo]
The Japanese government has formally requested the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Agency's assistance in responding to the situation at its nuclear power plants.

"Hurry, we need to get to Fukushima 2!"
"Which one is that??"
"Not 'one' 'two!'"
"Too? We have to go to both?"
"No, we need to get to the number 2 Fukushima!"
"OK! On the map, which one is number 2?"
"It's the North one... I think."
"Then why didn't they call it Fukushima North for God's sake?!"
"God's Sake???"

There's an art to naming things.

Considering that it was not made by the folks whose logo appears on it, it has no associated information about where the figures it shows come from or how they're derived, and it shows radiation levels (from other comments I've seen) higher than those at Chernobyl ground zero, It seems a thoroughgoing fraud created by someone to stir up concern.

If folk were going to do real modeling and publish it, you would think they would claim it, and not use someone else's logo as identification. I suspect they used ARS's logo to make it look more 'official'.

Fixed it.

Cute how those giant chunks of machinery shoot 1,000s of feet into the air, past the top of the giant mushroom cloud. TODAY.

Sure. And I just said we don't know how they did the modeling and the numbers are suspect and have no basis, unless 3000 rad was what they've measured in the contaminated buildings on site.

But don't discount the idea of fallout hitting America, because that's actually plausible. Like I said, we get pollution in the western US from Beijing. Check out where Beijing and Japan are relative to each other.

The impact of all this extends far beyond China’s borders. Taken as a group, its coal-fired power plants emit the world’s highest levels of sulfur dioxide (a major element of acid rain) and mercury, both of which rise high into the atmosphere and hitch a ride on air currents circling the globe. One study, published last year in the Journal of Geophysical Research, calculated that three-quarters of the black carbon pollution in the atmosphere over the western United States originates in Asia. It is estimated that as much as 35 percent of all the mercury pollution in the western United States comes from abroad, and China is most likely the main culprit.

Fuck You #3 exploded today, blast 10 times bigger than the explosion Saturday of Fuck You #1.

Fuck You #2, Fuck You #4, Fuck You #5, Fuck You #6 are burning, fuel rods splitting open and melting.

The cleanup crew will be buried in 30 days. Dirt nap with baby Jesus.

Nothing to worry about...

Funny how V predicted this nuke disaster last week, how sabotage of "Blue (Sun) Energy" would destroy confidence in the world use of Blue Energy, such as wiping out a city like New York...or Tokyo.

Latest update: an explosion was heard at the location of the suppression pool of reactor number 2. Workers are currently being evacuated from the plant. There is a possibility that the suppression pool may have been damaged because pressure within the chamber went down with radioactivity went up in the surrounding area. The suppression pool is part of a last line of defense to prevent radioactive material from leaking to the outside.
