I'd rather see a new Firefly with new charactors then to see my favorite charactors and ship taken in a direction I don't fancy. So my vote goes to a new ship/new charactors, like all the fan shows do.

That basically sounds like forming a studio. You don't think that would be difficult? I'd imagine it's much more complicated than you'd think. Plus that would still leave us searching for someone to buy the shows that are produced. Which usually comes first. I'm pretty sure if some network wanted to buy the shows then Fox studios would be making them as we speak.

Interesting. Wasn't Joss talking about something like forming his own studios using mutant enemy as a basis, just after the end of Dollhouse?

While there are several plotlines I'd like to see tied up with the original Firefly crew, I'd accept either original crew or new crew for a Firefly series. My only condition for watching it is Joss would either have to be involved or he'd get to personally select his successor.

To me it wasn't the setting and verse that mattered it was the characters. Without them it's just like any other new show that may or may not strike my interest. If it was a reboot of Firefly with a slightly different take on the same characters I'd be at least a little more interested. A brand new show set in the verse doesn't really do anything for me.

I liked the setting AND the characters. I think there's a lot of potential for both, as well as new characters in fitting with the setting. But to each their own.

Most of the actors are doing other things. You might get one or two, or msybe a tv movie with three or four, but no more. And the new Firefly Inc. could not afford them.

What you do is relaunch the franchise with new characters and bring the old ones by once in a while for guest appearances.

And there are other characters as well. How about the new ship visits a place visited in the other series...or the new captain ends up married to Saffron for an episode. It'd be easy to twist that with Saffron falling in real love only to be left heartbroken by the side of the road.

One thing about Firefly is that their verse is full of characters...even the folks who got one line in one episode were great characters.

The crew is easy. A captain running from the world, a pilot who wants only to soar, a mechanic who can fix anything (maybe make him the unemployed union fella who helped build the last Firefly), and a couple pick ups and tag alongs. I for one would love to see a certain former operative...perhaps as a Sheppard...or maybe even as the captain (a man searching for meaning and redemption and probably on the run from the folks who got screwed in Serenity).

Tons of storylines. How about resettling Miranda or finding a lost Earth ship hmmm...full of frozen Khans...no, been done, but why is the alliance so eager to hide the truth about Earth? That would be a great season plotline. Maybe a cliffhanger where an actual ship arrives from Earth and reveals its all a lie. Or maybe the ship is not what it seems.

Getting the old series back with the old crew is a pipe dream. But a lot can be accomplished if you bring in a new crew and do tie-ins to the old series and the movie.
