Okay. . .

I have the phone number for the Universal rep who handles distribution for North Carolina and as of 15:38 EST, on Friday, July 30th, I left him a message.

Here's the plan.

We're requesting that one of the NC Venues be an AMBASSADOR ENTERTAINMENT Theatre. Out of the four theatres owned by Ambassador, our preferred choices are:

#1: The Rialto, for nostalgia's sake. . .the classic 'movie palace' venue with a big stage and such (and if'n we want to stay for the Rocky Horror Picture Show afters)

#2: Mission Valley, while it's not a 'movie palace' like the Rialto, this is good choice because parking is alot better than at the Rialto, they serve beer like the Rialto, and it's just as convenient to hotels and such. Mission Valley shows mainstream movies already, so it wouldn't be as big of a deal getting "Serenity" shown there.

#3: The Lumina. This theatre is in Chapel Hill, which is "up the road" from Raleigh, but still convenient to the airport (RDU) and the interstate. It's a more modern theatre that, like Mission Valley, already shows mainstream.

Now then. . .I'm not MARRIED to any of these choices. I would LOVE to see it at the Rialto, like I said, for pure sake of the 'classyness' that the ol' girl has to offer. I've recieved assurances that no matter the theatre, as long as it's owned by Ambassador, we will be allowed to make it an 'event'. We will, however, have a BIT more freedom at the Rialto for that, since "Serenity" would be the ONLY movie showing there.

Also. . .let me add, on a more personal note, just how very shiny it is to know that so many of you would travel to NC for this party. It's my sincere desire that there's a "mighty fine shindig" in each of the 50 states for this highly anticipated movie. I have a hard time believing there wouldn't be. I'd LOVE to get the media's attention for this. . .which is, of course, my NEXT project!

I'm going to assume Static will keep updating those of us who ain't from NC (I went to college for a year at Elon College, now University, in 1992, and I do miss NC) as to what's happening from week to week.

It feels like April is so far away, but when you think about it, when it comes to getting plane tickets, renting a car, renting a hotel room...this movie had better be damn good, LOL!
