I just read about this and I'm kind of having mixed feelings
With production stopped there will be no chance of any kind of resolution to the story and the chances of it returning are extremely slim with all the bad reviews and bad ratings. This plainly screams cancellation even if they don't announce it yet.

Part of me is disappointed because I was actually liking the show, even though it wasn't brilliant and had several faults, but I felt it had potential. Summer was fine in her role but underused (at least so far). The idea of a cop working with theives was a nice touch but again hadn't been played out much so far.

Another part of me thinks it deserves it because it failed to grasp that potential. It could have been a spin on Batman for TV (and in many ways it was) but it tried to go too light and I felt the humour didn't really work. Some of the plot points were pretty lame as well like when Orwell questioned Flemming on the train and he doesn't realise who she is. He's supposed to be really intelligent but he comes off as a bit slow, especially if she is his daughter as well. I also didn't really feel for Vince. I didn't get his anguish at being torn from his family from either the script or the acting and as this was the main reason behind him becoming The Cape it felt weak.

But, as I say, I was still liking the show. Maybe Summer will finally get a show that lasts next time round.

Yeah I thought it would have been better if they tried for more of a serious tone. You can still have humor without having to be campy. Seems like a lot of writers don't get that about super hero writing. Can't say I'm really going to miss it.

I'm with LWaves - if Orwell is Chess's daughter, how could he NOT recognize her? It always seems odd to me that a superhero can just put on a simple eye-mask (or even GLASSES!) and become unrecognizable to the people who are closest to them.

The Cape's own kid can't recognize him? Really? Nobody's noticed the startling resemblance between Chess and Fleming?

Still, the worst moments for me are the ones between The Cape and his son. Pure cheese and schmaltz, at least in my opinion.

All that aside, though, I still find myself actually liking the show. I don't *love* it, but it's entertaining enough. Above "Heroes", below "Chuck" on the entertainment scale.

But the whole situation with Trip not realizing The Cape is his dad was definitely hard to swallow. Hell, David Lyons could have just put on his natural Aussie accent as a disguise, for frak's sake...though then they would have to explain how Vince could do that

Good point. I'm thinking you should be a writer for that show! (Although there's not much job security there, it seems...)

He was also slow on the uptake about Dice being the Tracey who was the basis of the research he killed her father for.

I'm not surprised by this move at all. I've watched every ep and was entertained, and I am willing to cut it a lot of slack, but I have to admit they were dropping the ball on nearly every dramatic front.

Too cheesey of a show. Didn't like it. Never got into it. The villain was not much of a villian. The only thing it had going for it was Summer and her talents were underused.

Is it possible to change the title? It's a little mis-leading. I think a lot of people would read it as "NBC cuts THE CAPE from their line-up" (eg, cancels it).

Perhaps "shortens" or "hems"?

Cutting the order is in all likelihood a precursor to canceling it.
