firefly and serenity

awile back I came upon a movie called serenity on scify channel. I watched it,and it was really good. So the info said it was from the series firefly. So i purchased the dvds and loved it. This was really gold. I cant understand how it got cancelled. Maybe it was alittle ahead of its time. I read that the movie did not do well in theatre's. Again, I don't get it. I think if they revisit the series now and promote it well it would be a success. Anyway, from what I saw it was just gold.

TonyP you've said a mouthful. Part of the problem was the Universal did not promote the movie through the usual channels. They wanted a word of mouth approach. As you can see, nada.

The movie broke even at the box office, which is to say it was a no-no in Hollywood circles. Anyway we have Summer and Morena.

I'm afraid Firefly/Serenity is something the masses don't and probably will not ever get. Not necessarily because they're not intelligent, but because they just don't look to TV for the sort of thing Firefly gives us. Most of them just see that medium as entertainment, as a comfort zone, where familiarity can soothe the pain, not something to cherish and obsess over.

But still, bring it back I say! The fanbase is so strong that you'd think you'd have a guaranteed solid viewer base, even if it's not 'fly-through-the-roof' ratings.
