Well, I took a brief trip to the local Goodwill store today, just because I KNEW there would be shiny Browncoat-appropriate wear there today (So I was channelling River today, i guess...)
Anyhow, I was not disappointed! I found the following items:
-- 4 pairs of cowboy boots
-- several pairs of work/"tough girl" boots
-- many, many neat vests (but few of which work with my, um, chestal region)
-- a gi
-- a coolie jacket (in blue & silver, but not my size, gorram it!)
-- and best of all, the one thing I DID purchase....A BROWNCOAT for $5!!! Yippee!!!
I was so surprised! I had tried a couple of other things, including a jumpsuit and a tech vest (which I may go back for, just to put my Serenity patch on!), but I was talking to my Mom on the phone, and half-heartedly leafing through the rack of dresses (believe it or not!) and there it was, a chocolate brown, moleskin, simple button front knee length coat! It's supposed to be a coat dress, but when I tried it on with a vest, I was convinced it was of a utilitarian design enough to be a Browncoat. I'm pulling the pockets off the front breast area, and probably going to add leather to the collar and make turn back cuffs, but I think I got me a shiny new Browncoat! Off to more thrifty places tomorrow!!!

Nah, didn't get it all...lots more places to try yet! All I got was the first browncoat, but last week I picked up an even better one, big enough to hide Vera in! It's a little heavy to wear in the summer in FL, so nice to have two to choose from (and I can always lend the other out to my brethren down here).
Found a hat, but I was told it was too shiny, and I'd have to go drive over it a few times! It did have some bird crap on it, so at least it's got a start...

My son is already set, He has an increadibly heavy brown leather coat that he wore a lot back when the first X-men movie cam out because he said it looked like Sabertooth's. Looks like somthin' Jayne might wear. It would take a Jayne type too 'cause of how heavy it is. My son,16, is Jayne in traning. 6'2' 185#. Also he's good in a pinch but don't let him try to take over.

Well that is high-class already! ;)
Well I already have a hat and a leather duster, but it's too long, I think. I'd like to find a 3/4 length like Mal has.
Oh! the reason I have those? Used to play a character in a local LARP (live action role-playing) that was a cowboy along the lines of Jaynes personality...except smarter.

For the Premiere Party, I will be attired in a nice 'evening' ensemble akin to Mal's in "Shindig".
