Well, one glaring difference is, Don is a complete sex addict/man-whore with no sense of fidelity. Unlike Mal, Don would not feel guilty about double-timing his woman. Don has thus far bedded such a variety of women I've lost count. He's gotta be approaching Capt. Kirk's record. haha

If Mad Men is feminist it is only in the sense of showing how screwed-up things were when it was indeed "a man's world."

I think Don would envy Mal's world because there are multiple planets full of women to screw and no fear of alimony payments. I think Mal would envy Don's world, when dealing with women wasn't so damned difficult all the freakin' time.

All in all, in the Firefly 'Verse, as now, men can screw around all they want and, as long as they don't reproduce, they have to take no responsibility whatsoever. Not a bad deal.
