So how was everyone's holiday/break?

I celebrated the holiday season by spending $700.00 to fix the surprise broken water main underneath my front yard and almost spending a thousand more to fix the oil rings on my old Saturn. I'm not looking forward to my water bill.

My saint of a mechanic told me that the car would run about another 30,000 miles before the engine needs to be completely rebuilt and that it would cost more than its worth. I'll start looking for a newer used car...no point in spending that money on it.

I really am not looking forward to doing car payments again.

I've decided to get my passport so that this summer I can spend a week somewhere where there are empty tropical beaches and fruity drinks with parasols in them.

It snowed in Las Vegas this morning. The road to work was closed until 10:00 ish.

Other than that, things are great. I have an actual house to fix and money in the savings account to fix it, and the old car still runs, so I'm counting my blessings.

We're in the process of buying so I kind of envy you your house problems:)
Hey we're all planning to rob a bank or win the lottery and make browncoat island and all live happily in tropical paradise. Come with us:)

Browncoat Island? Tropical paradise? Where do I sign on? And slide me down a Pina Colada while you're at it.

So last night while I was in Barnes & Noble trying to find extra paperback copies of "The Hunger Games" for book club, there was a guy standing there with a Nikki Heat book in his hand muttering to himself if this really was a Richard Castle book. I told him I'd read them both already, and while they are no Michael Connelly books, they are fun and frothy.

We got to talking (animatedly) over our mutual Nathan crushes, and I convinced him to watch "Firefly" on Netflix. I told him all about the Firefly shoutouts that go on on Castle (he remembered the "space cowboy" costume).

It was so nice to cross paths with someone else out in the dorkosphere who doesn't roll their eyes at me when I'm talking Firefly/Castle/Nathan!

We traded email addies. I hope he actually emails me. I hope he comes to one of our Firefly meetup events.

When do you find out about the house?

(Slides a surprisingly large pina colada down the bar)

Order up!

We're getting ready to go house hunting. I talked with someone yesterday and we're pre-approved for a mortgage. I'm packing up my sewing room since I won't use it for the next six months anyway and I've got the time now. Which is a luxury I won't have in a few months.

On the bright side: we'll be going somewhere which, should it need a large repair, we'll be able to fix without impediment or unnecessary aggravation. Yay!
Beats the hell outta watching the siding fall off and the windows come apart and not being able to do a damned thing about it.

While I'm at it I think I'll have a pina colada too.
(Magics up a large batch of them for anyone wandering by. Then puts a Martini, a mango smoothie, and a perfectly chilled Dew in stasis for applicable recipients should they wander by, and goes to commune with the potted palm.)

HUGS and more HUGS.. whatever you need Roxy!!

Oh awesome on the house Rosie. The hunting sucks and the new mortgage paperwork bites, but once it's done the YAY is .... so YAY!

Oh good conversion there with the Castle cross over
