I got the Aug 1-7 Tv Guide in the mail today which featured the "25 Greatest Sci Fi Legends". Flipping leisurely through, I was thrilled to see our own Captain Malcolm Reynolds at the #18 spot! Not a bad pic of (quote) "strapping Nathan Fillion" either.

SHINNNNNNNNNNNNY!!!!!

Wow!
A character from a TV show that was beaten and dumped, left for dead, ends up in a TV Guide list of 25 Greatest Sci-Fi Legends?
How cool is that?!

I thought it was soooo cool that Mal made it on there! Though they only mentioned fans of Mal (Fillionites, I believe), and not the rest of the Browncoats (Like me, who thinks Mal is cool, but really likes the Tams).

And Rod Serling! YES! I love the Twilight Zone!

Do they really call themselves "Fillionaires"? I've never seen this before.

I've never seen or heard the term "Fillionaires" either but I was so stoked that Mal made the list that it didn't really phase me until you pointed it out. It would've been a clever term if it circulated more I think. Maybe TV Guide made up the term because they didn't want to try to explain what a Browncoat was to a non-watcher of the show.

Anyone heard of it?

There was another thread running here where a bunch of us asked about the Fillionaires. Turns out it's a phrase that was coined over on the OB (Official Board) to describe people who were fans of Mal (or maybe it was fans of Nathan). Here's the thread:

The other fan groups were Bunkmates, Traditionalists, and Valkyries (no fan groups for Book ...).
