The story is in why she is the way she is.
Didn't I say that? I thought I had.

Damn good choice, great idea - the Ying and The Yang in the black.

I thought on this a number of times, but it's hard for me to choose from the crew (I love 'em all) and each has an interesting back story to tell. I want the crew together in a series, miniseries or sequel.

Having said that, I'm gonna choose from the many juicy characters that we were introduced to. Three stand out for me:

1. Saffron, but someone already suggested her;

2. Monty, although his on screen time was relegated to the intro to Trash, I love this character. How did he get to be captain of a smuggling ship? You have to have some "smarts" as he would put it, to be captain. What about his crew? How did he meet Saffron? These are questions I want to have answers to.

3. Jubal Early, Bounty Hunter: this is quite intriguing to me, mainly because of the interesting ways he would pursue and capture his bounty. He would spout poetic and kafkaesque passages while kicking some serious ass. Just think some he would flat out hand over to the Alliance and some he would agonize over as he did with River - plus how did he capture the arson-influenced midget?

Much as I love Monty and Saffron, I choose Jubal. Does that seem right to you?

Although he appeared in only one episode, Jubal was very well developed, and played by a skilled actor. The good script helped, but there have to be a lot of interesting stories in the verse that could best be told via Bounty Hunter Jubal Early.

Wow. Nobody's wanted a spin-off of just River? I'll say it then, I'd love a spin-off where River's the star.

And hopefully she's barefoot as much as she was on Firefly. :P

So who would you pick.... And what angle would you like to see it take?

It could never be as good as the original ensemble cast. That dynamic is what made Firefly special. For me, anything less would just tear open the wound FOX inflicted when they axed the series. I think it would just make me long for the old Firefly even more keenly than I already do.

Fair to say Toadsmoothy.

However would something not be better than nothing at all...?

Say a series based on the comical exploits of a uniquley gifted Pilot by the name of Wash...?

I'd imagine a kind of Rockford files based in space; our hero Wash takes on seemingly innocuous piloting jobs that somehow seem to place him in danger.

Living in a beaten up hanger that houses spaceship relics from the past; his mechanicical and much more debonaire father helps the business tick over by assisting his son maintain some sort of a lifestyle as a freelance space pilot.

Inara and Mal

Inara: You have a strange sense of nobility Captain. You'll lay a man out for implying I'm a whore but you keep calling me one to my face.
Mal: I might not show respect to your job, but he didn't respect *you*. That's the difference. Inara, he doesn't even see you.
Inara: Well, I guess death will solve the issue to everyone's satisfaction.

OK. If you push me into it. How about a series on Kaylee and Jayne. They own a mechanics shop. She fixes the space ships. He mans the front desk, kicked back in a cruddy office chair, smoking a cigar, insulting customers and occasionally rifles through their ships looking for stuff he can pilfer. hahaha Hi-larious! ;)
