Tron Legacy was a big letdown for me. Not as bad as another sequel of an older film(Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull) but certainly not much better. It did have a great soundtrack though. Starting to lose faith in screenwriters of Hollywood. Either they don't have vivid imaginations, or they just don't care. A paycheck is a paycheck I guess. No need to go out of your way to entertain an audience these days.

Considering I never thought the first film was all that, I have no interest in this sequel.

Absolutely agree. Great visuals but a very poor plot. Not even one bit of comic relief either, it just dragged on and on. I loved the little bit that followed Flynn in the first one that said Yes or No No No No No...

On another note, did you see the preview for Real Steel. I worked as an extra on it and actually made the trailer. Robot boxing but it looks really fun.

Its a Dreamworks project with Steven Spielberg Executive Producing and Shawn Levy directing, and starring Hugh Jackman.

Based on a Twilight Zone Episode called Steel.

Fun to work on. I play a security guard at the boxing events.

I loved the first film too, but if ever there was a movie that dragged on and on, the original Tron is it. That movie was incredibly slow and dull in places.

I thought Legacy was pretty good. Much like the original, there are bits of the story that wont hold up to much scrutiny, but overlook that and get lost in the cool and colourful surroundings and new sci-fi frisbees for a while and you'll have fun.

I too loved the first one, but I had a feeling from the first trailer that it could be all style and no substance, much like the Transformers movies (amongst others). This style of movie gets people into the cinema so why would Hollywood bother with a plot?
I used to watch most of the blockbuster movies when they were released but after so many disappointments, culminating in Indy 4, I gave up and now I wait and see how the movie goes down first. It has to be something really special like Inception or Kick-Ass to get me to the cinema these days.

Think I'll wait for Tron: Legacy until I don't have to pay for it.

3-D..isappointing. Lazy, uninspired script. Terrible pacing and even worse dialogue. Garrett Hedlund as the lead was a very poor choice (I would have preferred Chris Pine), this guy's acting was flat and uninspired as well.

I blame the director and and scriptwriters. 27 years for this?! What a crock! If you haven't seen it yet - DON'T. Especially in IMAX 3D. Possibly the worst I've seen ever. First they flash a disclaimer stating that the film had 2D parts, as well as the aforementioned 3D, in the movie. Imax makes the bold claim that they have the best picture quality in the industry. They advertise it as a 3D movie, but you get 2D in certain situatuons.

Many scenes were somewhat blurry and edited poorly. The saving grace was the soundtrack and, when it worked, the visuals. Having said that, there were some moments in the film where the soundtrack and the action on the screen did not quite match up. And for reasons that I will not go into because it would spoil it for those who have yet to see it, they should have named this Flynn's Legacy. If and when you see the movie you'll understand why I say this.

Some of the lines were so cheesy that audience members croaned. At the end there was stunned silence. I remember when the first trailers were released at Comic Con, cheers and applause erupted from the audience (salavating in anticipation) for a release. I was so pumped to see this movie and anticipated a great light cycle race, but was sadly disappointed at the presentation and editing. What was once a cool and kick-ass segment within the context of the movie, became this uninspired (there goes that word again), poorly choreographed, poorly set up, poorly edited and poorly directed blockbuster dud.

In the light cycle race, you couldn't tell who to root for, they looked pretty the same. Don't get me wrong there were some awesome scenes and great action sequences, but way too few to save the movie. I say wait for the DVD and rent it.

Those dudes over there in Ho'wood have no idea what makes a movie that the people will fall in love with, only how to front-load some lackluster ideas with massive budgets, multimillion-dollar print and advertising blitzes, and lame distractions like 3-D in lieu of good stories or capable storytelling.

Just as all it would take to get truly progressive social policies on the table are public officials who aren't spineless or sociopathic, all the movies need is a creative executive who makes the sane calls, pushes for real ideas instead of bait-and-switch schemes gleaned from the advertising industry.

Pre-1966 Ho'wood (aka Hollywood) was full of such moguls. For all the racism, sexism, jingoism, and general dizziness that marks Hollywood history, it must be said that the businessmen who ran the show early on were at least in touch with audiences and filmmakers, not just baiting them with barrels of cash and empty promises of "awesomeness." We live in the Awesome Age, where every scrap of popular entertainment is calculated to knock you down on your ass at every instance. And that pretty much sums up the problem with films of today in general.
A)Studios could give crap about "lasting appeal" of films. As long as the film gets people in the seats, and turns a profit they are happy. What new franchise can be rebooted to make the Gen X'Rs, and the tween/teen crowd excited to see?
B)Screenwriters have ADD big time. It shows in their work.

I have no idea why people got so excited about it in the first place. The trailer was a snorefest. I knew I didn't want to see it right away. Plus the silly costumes looked like an atari threw up on the actors. It's 2010! I know it's supposed to be an old game but there's no reason they can't upgrade with the times. At best I'll catch this on cable sometime.
