Bill Maher has some fun opinions on Mormonism and Glenn Beck.

He's remarked about this sort of thing before:
He's got a point...or several (I can snark at Mormonism, still being considered by the Mormon Church as a "dunked" Mormon...)![]()

Mahers little show gets less then a million viewers but he's treated by the press like he's a big deal. He'll say what ever he has to just to stay on the Hollywood and D.C. party A-List.
Maher and all the lib whores at MSNBC and Comedy Centeral have egoes bigger then their ratings.

..but of course the idjits at Fox DON'T have big egos! How silly.
Maher's been around for ages; he and people like Jon Stewart and Colbert have the guts to say it like it is...Fox says it like they want it to be believed it is, and do it with no humor.
And once again, ratings matter not at all. Fox has high ratings because it's about the ONLY show right-wingers watch...the rest of us are divided between the MANY shows we watch.
I'll take the former any day.![]()

You were a Mormon, Niki?
I'm studying every week with some Mormon missionaries here. They're very nice people, and we have fun talking. They know I won't ever convert (told them I was pro-choice and pro-gay rights), but they still come and keep me company. Mormonism isn't as weird as I thought it was. Not any weirder than any other Christian denomination, in my view.

Limbaugh has no big ego, noooooo...
Yes, CTTS, the "missionaries" ("elders") in and of themselves are a pretty cool bunch. I've met others aside from the two who "instructed" me, and I've liked every one. The "teaching" is a process you have to go through before getting dunked (christened).
I've freely admitted that about a third of the reason I got "dunked" was that the two guys who had to meet with me twice a week were young, hot Australians...I adore Aussie, NZ and British accents, and I was 16. What can I say?
The other two reasons were that my best friend was a Mormon...July LOVEALL no less (!), and I was searching. My experience with "christian" religion...Protestant actually...was going to church every week where my dad would get his best sleep of the week and mom sat me between them so she could elbow me and I could elbow dad to stop snoring. Not exactly enlightening...
But I dumped the Mormons the minute I found out about their (then) discrimination policies. I couldn't believe it, and it's one of the things that helped build my hatred of organized religion. They wouldn't let me go--you have to go through a "process" to leave the church. I've told this story before.
They found me every time I moved, including from communal house to communal house, trying to bring me "back into the fold". The last time they found me, we made plans before their visit. Everyone in the communal house was in the living room when they came, some gals sitting on guys' laps, some smoking dope, etc. They finally left me alone.
I'm probably still on their roster, given I didn't go through the required "process" to leave the church, but they've never bothered me again, so I don't give a shit.
But yes, individually there are some very wonderful ones. It's mostly the religion, the doctrines and those who run it I have problems with.![]()

Yeah, I told them up front. I could join the church, but they would just turn around and excommunicate me...so, ya know...
I've been excommunicated once already, from another denomination. Not for any type of "sin," mind you, but for "heresy." Yeah. I piss people off everywhere, and all I have to do is talk.
Wanna know what my heresy was? No? I'll tell you anyway. I said that I think it is possible for Muslims and Buddhists and Atheists to be "saved"--that they may not necessarily go to hell.
I'm the fount of evil talk, I am.

And you got kicked out of something that wasn't judaism?

That is the dumbest thing I have ever heard, and I'm friends with George Bush!!
