My thoughts and memorable moments from "Close Encounters of the Murderous Kind":

THE Castle "X-Files" episode, with many shout outs.

I couldn't stop smiling through out this whole ep, and thinking "F-ing awesome!" Definitely one of my top 5 favorite eps.

Castle whistles The X-Files theme several times.

The galaxies and other celestial images at the science center; Hubble got'chu!

An implant up the nose!

Kate got a Lego piece stuck up her nose when she was 6, which means she is, or at least was, a Lego maniac!

Castle: "I'm not saying you should dye your hair red and call me Mulder, but...." Haaaaaaa!

Lyle Lovett was a Man in Black. Interesting. I was fully expecting Castle or Beckett to ask: "Was that Lyle Lovett?", right before they get hypnotized..... but that didn't happen:(

For a short span, Kate was a believer. (Whoa... This reminds me of a different Kate in Angel seasons 1 & 2.)

Kate speaks into tupperware.

Stana wears jeans.

**stares out into space for a good minute**

I'm back.

So, the cliche of the car, watch, and phone (electronics) losing power during an abduction, is from an EMP. Ohhh. That actually makes sense.

USED TO?! What, like, not anymore? You'd think Castle, with his vast wealth, would be able to afford the DVDs. They're pretty cheap nowadays. He could probably get a good deal on Amazon.

The afore mentioned: Castle learned Chinese from a show he used to watch.

Cantonese. It's thinner. Luckly, ice cream is a universal language.

So, in Castleverse, Firefly is a TV show, and Castle is a huge Jossverse fan who can afford an exact "replica" Mal costume AND catalyzer. Thus explains "Vampire Weekend".

The ep ends with a lightning bolt, like the end of The X-Files' opening credits.

IMO, Castle is currently the best show on TV.

One thing that struck me in terms of X-files homages was when the car stopped and they both leaned forward to look up, it seemed basically shot-for-shot of when the same thing happened in the X-files Pilot. I haven't watched the pilot again to be sure, though.

Just because something can't be explained doesn't mean it becomes yours.

I tuned in last night to find no Castle. Bummer.

Last week I noticed that they did not have Summer, but instead had the original Terminator, before the role was re-cast for Arnold. Wasn't sure if that (Lance Hendriksen) was a shout-out or not.
But did get the Chinese sourcing, chagrined that he "used to love" indicating past tense. Hopefully just meaning no longer on the air.

Even though I've picked up his earlier references, it still took me a second to get this one. And then I bwahed!
