Not quite accurate. The term was originally coined to identify a substance that does what it does in the movie - super-conduct at room temperature. It was not a catch-all for imaginary substances, nor was it really intended to be sarcastic - but instead was a placeholder name created by scientists to covey the idea of what they were trying to discover.

Personally, I think it glorifies the simplicity & innate *goodness* of a less technologically advanced society a *tad* too much, but in every other aspect it's a really good flick. And it NAILS the Corporate exploitative mentality.

Well said, I agree. It was a good action flick. Not nearly as very deep or thought provoking as something like this could have been, but it was fun to watch.

Damn you, Chris...I've been intent on NOT double-dipping, but I was at Amazon earlier to order Chuck Season 3 and noticed the Avatar BluRay was only $25....almost got it instead...if the price is still the same when payday rolls around...I just might find myself getting the damn thing.

Yep, thats pretty much how I felt about it. I liked being in Pandora much more than anything else. The story was mediocre at best, but the way it was told, the FX and the acting perfs were top notch.
Saw it twice: with my son and with my 2 nieces. Everyone enjoyed it, and my son is hard on movies (it has to be excellent for him to like it). So, there you have it.
I think that they added the extra footage from Pandora because thats most people liked about the film.
