Hi, I just registered on fireflyfans.net so I'll make a quick introduction. I'm a relative newcomer to the Firefly world, having first watched the series on DVD last spring. I was instantly hooked, and I've kept the show in my thoughts since then, looking for other ways to keep its memory alive.
I'm interested in just about anything sci-fi and fantasy, including novels, movies, games and anime, which brings me to the topic.
It looks like the Serenity tabletop RPG has been somewhat successful, with some supplements and such. I'm not too familiar with the game system as of yet, but I'm an experienced RPer and game master.
I'd like to know if a play by e-mail or play by post RPG using the Serenity RPG books would work. If the system isn't more complicated than d20, I'd like to think it could probably work. I have some great ideas for Firefly/Serenity campaigns, but I don't know anyone where I live who likes pen & paper games.
I'd appreciate any comments, thoughts, I'd also be looking for anyone who might want to start something up for a Firefly game. I know there are probably some already, but I think are open ended and diceless. Personally, I like working with systems and having a definite goal to work toward.

I've played the Serenity RPG system quite a bit and I'd say it would probably work as a play by post game. It's not something I'd be interested in, I've tried playing RPGs online and the pace is just too slow for me. But if you don't mind that then yea, it could totally work.
"Haha, mine is an evil laugh."

I agree, pacing is way too slow for rules, dice and such on a message board, but I could see it possibly working via instant messenger. The GM could even 'whisper' things to some party members and not all when it comes to trying to spot or hear something. I prefer the dice and the rules and not knowing if I would succeed to free form as well, but I've never tried it online. I suppose I'd be willing to give it a shot though.
