She is very attractive.
Of Asian/German blood, she certainly has a unique look. And being raised in Tokyo must have made her one culturally diverse woman. Am I mad that she is now getting famous for being attractive, and not for the goofy dork that she is in real life?
No. But as Chris said, she is a fanboys dream girl. She can walk the walk because she is as big a geek about tech gadgets/video games/comic books as any of us geeks. Believe me after watching ATOS for the past few years, you can tell it's her spirit and humor(not the writers) that make her that much more appealing to geek crowd. It seems the more popular she gets, the more of her persona gets stripped away.
Also young cptn. Kirk(Chris Pine) apparently treated her like dirt, and dumped her.
