I have to disagree on both accounts. T2 will always be my favorite, partly because I thoroughly enjoy Linda Hamilton's transformation in hard core woman she is in T2.
And as far as T4, I was expecting more of a war movie, not another "let's try and kill John Connor so we can win the war" movie. I'd seen that three times already. The machines need a new strategy.

BTW, I thought A.I. was a DAMN good movie. I considered it for my list. Now, THAT was a gorram ending!!!! Still blows my mind to think of it.

Absolutely. It wasn't great, and was a bit too cheesy in places. But it had a story that actually made sense, and it had one of the flat-out ballsiest ending EVER for a summer popcorn flick (and was far better than the slapped together at the last minute end to T4).

It would have pissed people off, to be sure. But it still would have been an ending that the movie actually built to, rather than one tacked on to make fans happy, regardless of whether or not it actually suited the story they had decided to tell.

Strange... I liked the happy happy on the end of Salvation, yet I felt cheated by the happy happy on Minority Report... I guess it's because I saw MR as a serious SF film, and Salvation as just a cool re-watchable experience.

I don't see the correlation, as the movie was set from the start to end with Kirk's death.
Or are you saying you would have preferred the original "Kirk gets shot in the back while making a quip" ending?
