This may already have been discussed, I'm new here, but if you walked into a bar and ordered a "Firefly", what would be in it? If there's not already a drink called a "firelfy", then there needs to be one.
(This line of thought came after a snarky discussion about of the existance of "sparkling vampires" in the world of young adult fic, and doesn't it sound like something with alcohol in it?)
Cheers,
Kelly

Pretty sure it would have mudder's milk in it and it would taste like bitter defeat. Good "I want to be more depressed than I currently am" drink.

Good point. Just makes me want to throw myself into a cold, dark, bottomless pit icy despair.
On the other hand, if I want to walk into a casino on Earth-That-Is, wearing a slinky dress, and order a "Firefly" from the cocktail waitress, what configuration of alcohol would make a tasty, kick ass "Firefly' and say "Cao ni ma Fox" all at the same time?

It would be vodka.

Well, since "Firefly" is a brand of flavored vodkas, the drink would have to be named Serenity.
Here's one recipe ... if anyone tries it, let us know. (It's been a long time since I built a new drink ... I'm 20 years away from my bartending days.)
How to Make a Serenity
1. Take a chilled collins glass
2. Add ice (drink should be served as cold as The Black)
3. Add one and a half ounces of Firefly Mint Tea Vodka. (mint and tea flavors for the Asian influence)
4. 3/4 fill with lemon mix (because life is sometimes sour)
5. Fill with coca-cola (USA influence and turns drink brown)
6. Shake (because Browncoats like to shake things up)
7. Garnish with a slice of strawberry and a colorful paper umbrella (to lure you into Serenity)
I'm not really sure about the Coke part but, again, if anyone has access to Firefly vodka and tries this, let us know how it tastes.

Contents include:
Chartreuse for that glowing green effect? (Tastes a little like NyQuil... herbal almost medicinal.)
Or Absinthe to help you forget your woes?
Both to really make you feel like you've been in a bar fight with Jayne?

King of the Mythical Land that is Iowa

If I walked into a bar... I'd say "Ouch, who put this bar here...."
Sorry, I finally couldn't resist
Not that it matters, but we always make hot tea with brandy when we get in a Firefly watchin' mood...

Back in the day - long before our beloved show, I used to drink a mixed drink called "Firefly". As I recall, it was made with vodka and grapefruit juice, much like the recipe here: http://cocktails.about.com/od/cocktailrecipes/r/firefly_cktl.htm Tasted pretty good.
Funnily enough? This recipe, using rum & cognac, crossed my radar today. http://miaverse.com/featured/firefly-and-filo-shrimp-puffs
(And let's not get started on the existence of 'sparkling vampires', alcoholic or not.
)
"I love my captain."
