May I ask why you think this is the "official" poster? Is it on the serenitymovie.com or universal pictures website somewhere?

I rather like that as a concept for a first poster - beats the name on a black background.

Looks kind of distinguished, and isn't fanfaring the movie, true, but this I suspect they will be looking for an organic campaign - rather than throwing all the money at the ads

It looks like a comic book cover. ( and not a very good one at that.) It almost looks like Serenity is somehow attacking the planet down below, while also entering the atmosphere.
Damn yokels can't even tell a transport freighter ain't got no guns on it.

C'mon Browncoats..we can do better. We MUST do better.

p.s. - I wonder if that explosion is relevent to the movie plot in some way. Hmmmmmm...
