"Spiderman" reboot?

This is the 1st I've read of a "reboot"? I know Sam Raimi isn't coming back, and they're going to do "Spiderman the Musical" on Broadway, but I didn't know they were starting from scratch? I hope it's not dark and depressing like the last "Superman", the "Batman" reboot rocked!

It's been going around for awhile now.
It's appearing so soon after the others because the studio loses the rights to the name/franchise in a year or so. Or something like that, I'm sure someone else can explain it better.
So to me it's a rush job to get money from it before it's gone. Typical Hollywood studios. None of the originals are back from what I gather. They've cast a younger Peter Parker and I've heard Mary Jane isn't in it but that may change or be wrong. They may be aiming squarely at the teen market but that's just my opinion.
From what I've heard so far I really don't care about seeing this reboot. It's too close after the others, for one. Second, the first two Raimi movies were fantastic (can't stomach the third one) and I can't see them matching the quality of them. And lastly, there are enough comic book or superhero adaptions out there or in the works, do we really need another go at Spider-Man?
