I really do enjoy it more than the film sequels. Hope you dig it.
So from what I've read, he's gonna like this series a lot, and I'm confident I will as well.
Then after, I'll write a short story for him detailing how Virdon & Burke get back home to give it an ending for him. At that point, I'll shoot you a copy of it to see if it meets with your approval.
I did it for him once before, when a novel he was reading (and that he was really INTO) had a crappy ending. I re-wrote the last two chapters for him to make it more interesting & give it a sense of coming full-circle from the beginning.
One other thing, I have a hazy memory of Burke doing some Karate-ish fighting back then- it being the height of the Kung Fu Craze... that'll be fun.

Yup, $14 95 is a steal for such a cool show. I bought it on the Tuesday it was released in 2001 for $49.99. I bought the re-release in 2006 because the press releases said episode promos would be included. They weren't, I was upset. Oh well it was better packaging anyway.
I love reading fan fiction of the tv series, and the POTA tv series really makes you want to expand the storyline. Like the original Star Trek, there are just so many other stories that could be told. I look forward to reading your 'closure' episode.
The Kung Fu craze was pretty intense in the early/mid 70's, and you will see Burke drop kick a lot of apes.
Oh man, when you get done watching we can discuss favorite episodes. This is great. Thanks for being an APES fan on a Firefly site.

Hey dude, I thought ya might get a kick outta this:
I made that mask from scratch back in the day when I was 14- made plaster molds, poured latex & everything. Real hair wig, human skull model teeth...
It's a bit tight on me now.

That's cool. Pretty decent for a 14 year old. You had the skills even back in the day. You would have been a god to my brother and I in the 70's. We used to craft our own spook yard The weekend prior to Halloween with friends. We usually bought scary masks but constructed everything else. Fake blood(Karo syrup food coloring), monster hands(latex gloves with a a little glue and sawdust) and of course our backyard. One year a friend of my brother was a werewolf, and we had him chained to our shed. Scarier than anything you would see in the movies I kid you not. Neighborhood kids had a blast, but the youngens were usually too frightened to go all the way through. Then after our little production we would have cider and donuts. Sorry to ramble.
Back to the POTA series, There are a handful of scripts that were never filmed. You can download most of the teleplays to read. I am curious to read the original pilot by Rod Serling.

Serling's 1st & 2nd episode scripts prolly seemed too "cerebral" or something. I wanna read 'em too.
I also did a Halloween spook house thing in my basement as a kid. It was only scary for the younger ones, though.

So, if the series is set in 3085 & the humans talk... is this before the humans somehow got it into their genes (presumably through lingering radiation, possibly in something only humans had contact with or ate) to lose IQ points & vocal ability in the brain?
Or is this an altered timeline that follows "Battle For The Planet Of The Apes", where somehow humans retained some small measure of respect & intelligence in the events that unfolded during the centuries?
Or is it a different timeline ALLTOGETHER???

The Tv series is a little tricky to fit in because there is a bit of conflicting happenings that are mentioned in the later films. In the tv series there is a dog in the first episode(dogs shouldn't exist in the ape realm) there is a Zaius(I'd like to think a great ancestor to the Zaius in the original film not the same one). So it is kind of confusing.
I think the Ape tv series can fit into the timeline but I will simplify it to state my point.
The way I view it is this:
After the end of the world(as humans know it) Apes are the dominant species of about 2 to 1. Apes find humans helpful for work so they let them live, but they run the show and kill any humans at will if they so choose. Humans can still speak but have become simpletons more or less because no education is offered them. They are also aware that apes rule the land and are fearful of them.
Fast forward a thousand years. Apes consider humans a hazard (because their numbers were growing) and kill them on sight. Through the generations of being hunted and treated like wild animals always on the run the humans lost the concept of language and speech.
All I can say is this, don't work too hard at trying to fit the pieces together because it's one confusing puzzle. Take the Apes tv series for what it is. Kick back and enjoy
