Funnily enough I have never been mugged in Raymond Terrace, I was threatened once but I scared the feral chick in question so she didn't pursue things. I lived in Canberra (Australia's supposedly peaceful tame capital) most of my life and got into a few scuffles with wanna be muggers. Every time I go to Sydney I get verbally harassed and have on occasion had stuff thrown at me and was spat at once by people that should know better...crap I'm going there tomorrow.

Hey happy trader we have different levels of socially marginalised people where i live. I do speak on the same level as those I see both at after school care and with a number of people on the bus and around town who have had unfortunate lives (e.g. one lady who was relieved when her violent pimp/husband got shot during a bad drug deal and then totally devestated when he made a full recovery) I also have a pretty amicable relationship with some of the local "working girls" and have given them tips re who to take their kids to for referrals etc. the Ferals I have problems with are on a whole different level they don't access programs they don't care if their kids eat bathe or go to school. They constantly bug people for money even though the govt gives them more than I'm living on.

I've done self defence classes. Also apparently I'm scary when threatened. Something just goes boom in my head when I've warned people to back off and they choose not to. I do try to reason with them first but if they grab me or start hitting me I lose it. It's not a bad thing as it's gotten me out of a few spots. I find headbutting works a treat.

Now off to fight the rude masses of people (who truly do suck) in Sydney who never say exscuse me when they push past...I've already made scathing comments to 3 people and have been here a mere half hour

So, Sidney is exotic to us, just as Manhattan might be to you, but it's all the same in the end, eh?

I resent that. I'm part of that mass and I'm not rude and I don't suck. Although, there are some of us Sydney-siders who do....mainly the ones from Mosman.
