My Car's Window Derailed

Ayep, I learned my lesson with that Vista crap, that stupid laptop is at the bottom of my closet (because OF COURSE you can't get XP drivers for it's hardware, and this'll be your problem, too) and I rebuilt my trusty old machine from the mainboard up with WinXP SP2 - and with JUMPER SET hardware instead of flaky, glitchy, plug-n-pray crap that tends to re-allocate itself and cause a crash JUST when you need it to work the most!

As for the car, you've got the basic knowledge now, and I too found the manner in which the guy did it something of a hack job, pun intended, so what you'll have to do to avoid cutting is add a step - you're going to have to dismantle the door, and here's the problem with that...

Some of those attachment points listed as using screws or bolts - they'll be welded, almost every car I have worked on has occasionally had tack welds instead of bolts, most notoriously that friggin Kia of my ex's - which, mind you, went to the crusher a couple months ago, since no mechanic in town would touch it, and only mad-engineering miracles kept it runnin in the first place, do NOT buy a Kia, no Haynes, Chilton or Clymer manual exists, and the only way you can get specs is hacking, then raiding the KGIS system for service bulletins and even then they don't match up 1-for-1 cause they are NOT designed to be repaired, ever.

SO, you're likely to run into welds, which means you'll have to break them, then drill a hole, then put a bolt or screw in there yourself, if you don't have an arc welder handy, that is - best way to do that is a thin-edge prybar wrapped in duct tape to keep from unintentially gouging up or through the rest of the metal, and work it like trying to lift a stuck pancake, provided you can GET to them - make sure to have one with a really long handle, natch.

The window is easy enough to lift out and arrange either from inside, or if yer a smartass like me, a suction cup widget will the do the job ever so handily.

Hold up a minnit, I THOUGHT I saw it back there - I gotta Haynes... only it's for the Olds Cutlass Supreme 1988-1995, but it should be the same system, right ?

Still, it has a good stereo in it..So we're still debating...

if it's a Sable, and the antenna is in the front fender, it either pre-96, or 2005+.(Really 08+, the 06&07 models were called the Montego) The 96-05 models had it located on the left rear fender.
Buddy of mine's grandma, and now his little sis, had/has 96 sable, he had 97 Taurus, and my mom has a 99 Taurus. I know these cars.
1st Gen (86-91)

2nd Gen (92-95) ( image below is a Taurus, for some reason the sable wouldn't display)

3rd Gen (96-99)

4th Gen (00-05)

good news is, if it's engine the 3.0 v6 (not the DOHC version), the engine will go on forever with basic maintenance.
( the good ol' ford Vulcan 3.0L engine. Built here in Lima, OH. the armpit of the universe)

on a side note, my uncle finally got rid of his 95 Bonneville Last Year.
Just over 300,000 mi. Did the Cash for clunkers, got an '10 Hyundai Tuscon.

He Bought that car new, drove the hell out of it for 11 years, traded it in on his '06 Lincoln Zephyr(got them to give him 2 grand), 2 weeks later, the dealer called him back asked him if he wanted to buy it back, cuz the auction wouldn't touch it (too many miles), They wanted (of course) $2,000., he offered $800.
They took it.
Used it as his around town car for 4 more years.

It's fixed!

While I was sleeping during day that I would start night shift, my dad borrowed the car, and took it to the local glass shop.

Don't have all details (cause I was asleep), but it sounds like they have no problem opening up a door.

I hear the hardest part for them was scrounging around for one of those window clip things.

Total cost: $25!

And all the gadgets still work.
