According to Wikipedia (and of course this must be taken with a few grains of salt and pepper) she is of Scots-Irish and German descent. However,she does have a slight look of the orient about her and that is what makes her an unusual beauty.

Summer is AMERICAN INDIAN she is Cherokee I know this for a fact that's why her name is Summer is a Indian name.Now i will explain why she has chose not to say she is because parts for American Indians are not easy to get in T V or movies so saying she is something other then an Indian she gets more parts to play.

She is Scottish/Irish and half German and muttastic and before anyone gets offended I'm more a mut than she being Polish/Lithuanian/Danish and German/English I so have the right to say mut

But I'm think I'm going to have to say she's mostly caucasion. Celtic structure, the slender form, the cheekbones, the overall shape of the face and eyes, with germanic complexion, hair and eyes. So appearances aside, I think I have to agree with piratecat. Probably caucasian.

I have read at the terminatorwiki´s or the summerglauwiki, it was mentioned she was of German, and Scottish and Irish i believe it was

I think the notion of some Asian ancestry came from a few of the early scenes in Serenity (the pilot). A combination of lighting and makeup did give her face a more rounded appearance and darker complexion, plus the surname of Tam might have given people that notion as well. We should also remember that the pilot was shot quite a few months before any of the other episodes, and it is possible Summer lost a bit of weight during that time, particularly her face appears longer and more angular in later scenes, so maybe a bit of "baby fat" loss.

I think she's just a fine combo of hotness. Kinda like Katherine Zeta Jones, who is Welsh. She passed nicely as a Latin babe( per appearance in ZORO )
