It never goes smooth! How come it never goes smooth!?
On the day I get my new CPU, the passenger window of my 93 Olds Cutlass Ciera pops loose.
I don't have any HOW answers, so I'm only going describe what IS.
The rear edge of the window is still within the "groove", but the front edge jumped the rubber lip, toward the outside (right) of the car.
Also, the window pivets on something holding the window in the door, the bottom middle of the window, but it feels like there should be another one toward the front.
Raising and lowering the window doesn't help much. And I have to hold it to keep it level.
When I Google, I keep getting 'window motors'. Apparently, this doesn't happen that often.
(My brain's a bit busy right now, so if you need more details I might be able to give them.)
On a side note, I hate Win 7.

Dude, brace yourself- you're gonna have to take the door apart to see what's wrong. That or pay a mechanic.
My old Mustang's passenger window shattered, and I either paid $100 for a new window, or made a window out of plexiglass (I had some lying around), and permanently in a closed position. I opted the latter.

Yup, either it goes to the shop, or you learn how to pop the interior panel off and have a look-see for yourself.
If it's power windows, probably the regulator is bad. I've had it happen a couple times. I suck at working on car doors - long arms, big hands - so I diagnosed it and took it to a friendly garage.
If it's manual windows, it might just be a little plastic "clip" that hold the glass panel to the track the window cranks up and down on. I've had that happen on one of my Hondas, and it was easy enough to replace that I did it myself.

Do power windows have those clips, too? 'Cause that sounds like my problem.
The power window motor seems to work fine, it's just trying to move a window that's not properly attached.
And.... because Rogue Squadron won't even INSTALL on Win 7, Win 7 really, really sucks!

I'm betting they do, in some form or fashion. I haven't gone into the power window-equipped doors at all, except to verify that the driver's window on my Dodgy Durango is well and truly f**ked; bits of plastic wheels and gears fell out when I popped the panel off, so I glued the window in place with super-glue, put the panel back on, and went to take a nap, having completed what I considered a good day's work. :)
Do you have the shop manual showing how to get the interior panel off the door? If not, look around online a bit; you can usually pull one up somewhere. What did you say it was, a '93 Alero? If so, just Google "1993 Olds Alero factory manual online download" and see what comes up. I've downloaded several PDF copies of manuals that way over the years - I generally buy the hardcopy for whatever car I'm working on at the moment, but the PDF is handy if you're at a junkyard with your laptop...
Anytho, good luck with it; one way or another, someone's going to have to get into that door to see what's what, I'm afraid.
ETA: Sorry, I just looked up and realized it's a Cutlass Ciera, so google that, not the Alero! Also, Frem may be of some help, being (if I recall) an Olds guru himself. I'll see if I can dig him up and send him this way!

Where does THAT get fun?
Where's the DISCOVERY of hidden bolts & fasteners?
Where's the triumph, the victory over slick engineering?
Manuals suck anyway! They say it's one way, then it's another anyhow!!!
Do it on the fly, says I.

I agree on the best car. My Saturn SL that I bought new is going on 19 years old and I love just as much now as the day I bought it. I was destroyed when they shut Saturn down.
