The "real" browncoats, the ones in the Firefly verse, were a unified political/military force. What platform did they support? Limited government? Freedom? Gun rights? Social liberties? Were they libertarian? Anarchist? Could a "Brown Party" of browncoats (Firefly fans) support the same?

I am a registered independent. I used to vote all over the board. I use to see good points made by both parties, and I would vote on a candidate based upon how close their views on each side of an issue matched mine. Recently I've been disapointed in the republican party. Lately, I haven't seen them practicing many of the values that they have traditionaly believed in. Though I don't think this is true of all republican representatives. I feel it is true of the current administration. This is just an opinion based on what I HAVE SEEN over the last few years so please don't ask me to site and explain. It is just an opinion.

As a Libertarian (NOT a Republican) I would be totally opposed to the president even suggesting that we delay our elections. I wouldn't put it past ol' W though. He is supporting an amendment to the Constitution that defines (restricts) marriage.

I think that we, as American citizens, need to ensure that we do not let what happened in Spain, happen in the U.S. Terrorists killed a lot of Spaniards just before their election, and no one can argue that it didn't influence the outcome. That is an example of terrorists winning.

We are, and will remain, vulnerable to terrorist attacks, regardless of who is president. I am going to vote my conscience this election, Hopefully in November.

I was a Republican for many years until they took over congress and proved that they had in fact been lying about their agenda for years.

Now I am independent and don't plan to vote for another republicrat in my life.

If they all want to be martyr's..I say we give them their wish, in the shape of a mushroom cloud.

I saw a great bumper sticker last week:
"Vote Republican - It's easier than thinking."

I've always voted a mixed bag. Whoever I trust the most (these days, distrust the least) gets my vote.

I voted Republican in my first three presidential elections ... then I noticed that working class folks kept getting trickled on instead of trickled down. Looking back, Reagan's Alzheimers was kicking in about 3 years into his first term. Bush the Elder received my vote once.

I voted for Clinton twice - even though I thought the wrong Clinton was running.

I voted against Bush the Lesser and will again. I distrust the weasly bastard and all his weasly lying oil baron masters. (Can you say simpleton puppet on a string? I knew you could.)

I will continue to vote for whomever I distrust the least.

Well, I'm not allowed to vote, being 15, but I usually support the democrats. I'm in favor of social liberties, which I think includes owning a gun. Also, deficits are BAD. They will destroy America. I certainly wouldn't mind paying more taxes. And pollution is certainly bad too. If you've ever voted against a clean-air law, you should see Beijing. It's so smoggy you can't see more than 2 or 3 blocks. But I'm also against affirmative action.

I love the USA - hate political mongers who are ruining the country. Lets just stop sending money outside our borders and pay off the national debt. Just as individuals are held accountable to the debt to income ratio - why isn't the federal government?

I hate labels but if we must...

For me, put all of these into the cauldron and mix:

Green
Progressive
Democratic Euro-Socialist
Independent

Obviously, the US's limited one-party-posing-as-two-party system fails me daily.

If Americans ever decide to call it like it is, both parties would put "Big Business" before their respective names (ie, the Big Business Republican party and the Big Business Democratic party). Either that, or one of the two main US parties would have to remove its collective mouth from the corporate teat.
