I am sorry that all these people interested in actual historical facts are "ignant". And I'm sorry that as a Irish-Scot (a.k.a. Celtic) descendant I don't know about Scotch-Irish. Or the fictional country of Ire. Although I know exactly what bull-chips is. Oh, and Rhodesia is now called Zimbabwe.

Irish Scot is the pc term. Celts have nothing to do with northern irish who are protestant from scotland who imigrated to the southern colonies of America. The American empire is a whole lot different from the English one. If y'all hadn't a dragged us into two world wars over bad treaties amongst monarchs we wouldn't have had to police the world. Not to mention Philby the traitor. A good reason why the North Koreans invaded South Korea because of that english commie. But you people really know your history books. Sure. But when you loose an arguement you check for grammar quotations. Whoop de do da.

And another thing Mr Chips did we ever get a thankyou for all those Merchant Mariners who died in the Atlantic bringing Liverpool Florida Oranges. Nope. I rest my case.

I thought America got "dragged" in to the Second World War because it appeased Nazi Germany and the Japanese Empire for too long so that they grew strong enough to think that they were able to overwhelm all the Allies. Obviously they were wrong but it was a close thing. And it entered the First World War because the German Empire started attacking their shipping lanes and asked Mexico to attack the U.S.
Nothing really to do with treaties about monarchs on the U.S. side of things. Although I agree that the First World War was started because of treaties and imperialism, the united States had little to do with that; which is probably why they never declared war on the Ottoman Empire.

Ire = an island off the coast of Greenland whose inhabitants feel pissed off most of the time because of the cold and the ravenous polar bears.

First IRE is the bank of Ireland. More of a credit union in my opinion. Now if your trying to make fun of my Merican heritage. Just remember where ya get your fruits for them jams you put on your english muffins. And America does not have cows that are insane.

OH Yeh America appeased the baddies. But when we go kick some butt the liberal gay crowd of London says we are bullies.
You seemed to forget the Boer wars there boy. Kinda put the squeeze on the Germans cause ya wanted Africa for your selves. So the Royals could have more gold and land. Jolly Good Old Boy. Not to mention the Young Turks knew what Churchill was up to. Expand the empire. Now that is where we are today cleaning up the British mess.
That Churchill had a good plan for Gallipoli right up to the Dardanelles. Should have cleared them minefields first. How many battleships sunk with her crews on board. Lord of the Admiralty gotta love him for that one.

Hello,
Has this thread devolved into a list of all the abuses and stupidities of government and the military? If so, I'm quite proud of the U.S. ability to compete in that arena despite our young age.

Hi Niki, I often read your comments and you seem like a passionately compassionate (!) and broadminded person, but - Jesus, did you really not know about the Republic of Ireland? No offence, really, but as a British person, LMFAO!
