Lots of third parties here. I have been voting Republican, but I don't feel comfortable voting for someone who created the Homeland Security bill. I grew up with rabidly anti-Democratic parents, so I have a slight bias when I say I don't like Kerry either. I've always thought like a Libertarian, and I think that's where my vote will be going this November.

Libertarian here, but I'm not a purist when it comes to party affiliation. I put country above party. In 2000, I voted Libertarian, but will be voting mainly Republican in this election.
I find it a tad curious that there are so many 'liberals' who are also Firefly fans. Why? Well, as I use 'liberal', the definition I generally associate w/ that classification is one who is in favor for big gov't, universal health care,etc... which is pretty much direct contrast to what our fearless leader Captain Tightpants is fighting for..... his individual rights and the freedom to sink or swim on his own terms. Might not sound like much, but for some of us out here, it's enough.
That's what governments are for. Get
in a man's way.

I have been called a Conservative Democrat, at which, there is no room for me in this country. I cannot stand for anything that Republicans stand for so I am then labeled a Democrat.
Just shows how totally ignorant the whole political party system is in this country. As if you can fit a person totally into one hole or the other. The truth of the matter is that Republicans are Square shaped holes, Democrats are Triangle shaped holes and Americans (those with their own will) are Circle shaped pegs slightly bigger then either of the two holes.
I am also against Capitalism but that is for another post.

Big Government...getting in a man's way...sounds a lot like the Homeland Security and Patriot Acts violation of civil liberties, Detention without court oversight in the name of national security, Marriage Amendment, DMCA enforcement, corporate welfare...sure glad there's a "small goverment, individual/states rights protecting" republican administration in the white house!

"I left my heart in Seren-ity Val-ley..." <-- the farthest I've ever gotten in writing filk. ;)

They favor control of the government by 2 parties, that way they can have somebody to blame when thing go wrong. Enjoys block votes from gays, teachers, blacks, immigrants, welfare recipients, members of the press, NAACP members, environmentalist, pro-choicers, Union leaders, and people who hate Republicans.

In fairness
Republican Party - Primarily, a belief in State-Capitalism heavily tempered by Libertarian and free-market beliefs along with some pro-nationalist, pro-religious, and militaristic tendencies. They favor control of the government by 2 parties, that way they can have somebody to blame when things go wrong. Enjoys block votes from Businessmen, Christians, Hunters, KKK, pro-lifers, haters, and people who hate Democrats.
And yes some of my best friends are Libertarians thought they do tend to be a little conpiracy oriented, so they can blame "them" when something goes wrong.

I have to agree with Shiny. when i think of big government, i think of people like the bush administration who stomp on our rights and give tax cuts to the rich.
myself, even as a liberal, if i were to be on serenity, i would have a gun. because it is a totally different circumstance in than in the united states. Here, we dont need guns to protect ourselves day by day. i dont agree with taking away the right to own a gun, but in our society, there are enough screwed up people, that i think people can take the time to go through precautions when they do buy a gun.
