I'm getting the feeling that Cordelia realized why she had to come back to the "earthly plane." That reason being: To have Connor's child who will then save the world. It works because Cordelia was talking about how Connor has never been able to have a life, to have a family, to be happy, etc... The "I'm going to give you something real" comment probably refers to her giving him a child. Makes sense to me.

but I hadn't thought of that in terms of the little speach she gave. That makes sense now... and maybe more sense than the whole "World is ending, might as well go out with a Bang!" theory.

So we had a lovely debate last night at our Buffy party about what will happen with Charisma's real life pregnancy in terms of the show. Thought I'd share here and see what everyone else thinks.

1) Cordy will need to go back to her "higher plane" for a while while she has the kid (this is probably the least likely, as most of the things I've read say that Charisma has no plans to take time off.)

2) Cordy has Connor's baby, baby becomes a new character/plot piece of the show. (this seems the most likely to me.) I think the biggest problem with this is that it's difficult to do shows about young-ish people having a very active and dangerous life when there is an infant involved. Look at how quickly they got rid of baby Connor! He was only in 8 episodes before he came back as a young adult.

3) Cordy gets knocked up with demon spawn of some type or another. (Hasn't this already been done.... TWICE? Once in "expecting" after her one night stand, and once in season 2, I can't remember the name of the show, but the demons with the third eye in the back of their had were using Cordy to incubate babies too.)

4) Cordy is pregnant with Connor's baby but miscarries or baby dies at birth.

5) Cordy is seen carrying boxes or bags in front of her tummy (ala Phylicia Rashad in the Cosby Show when she was pregnant and they didn't want to work another kid into the Huxtable Family), or sitting behind a desk or only shot from the shoulders up and all else is body double for the rest of the pregnancy.

Those were the ideas batted around last night. what do you guys think they will do with Charisma's Swollen Belly?

well, yeah. That's because babies are totally boring. I hated Connor until he came back as this cool little ear-cutting-off savage. Do you think they will make Cordy's baby grow up fast too? I hope so, because I don't want another damn baby on the show. On the other hand, they would have to handle it very carefully because having another rapidly aging baby could be kind of lame.

As to your option #5, I'm pretty sure Cordy will be having a baby. I mean, wasn't that the point of her hooking up with Connor?

At this point, I think I'm going with option #2.

Ok, I have to applaud you on all your theories, BOBKNAPTPR--REALLY, they made me think...

Although I'd have to believe that, if in fact Cordy is pregnant, JW will most likely fit her in the show, b/c not only is she playing an important character, but she's become one of OUR favorites.

It won't be the first time I've heard it. hehe. However, in my defense, they weren't all my theories... Just 1, 2 and 5. 3 and 4 were my friend Mike's theories.

As for the rapidly aging baby.... I don't know... As much as I'd rather not see an infant in the show, I still think the rapidly aging Connor was kind of a cop out, and if they did it again, it would DEFINITELY be a cop out! It reminds me of when I used to watch soap operas.... one day there's a one night stand, next week she's pregnant, a month later she's having the baby, a couple months later there's a toddler running around, then for a few months the toddler is "upstairs doing homework", and within a year of the one night stand, the kid is in high school.

I know that Joss carefully plans out the story arcs from the beginning, but to me, this whole Connor/Cordy thing seemed like a gimic for sweeps.
