Hey guys my names Luke and I live down under. The only reason I know about firefly is I accidentilly copies it across to my computer along with a whole bunch of other TV shows at a LAN party. It sat on my PC for three months before I was bored enough to say "hey, ill give this ago". One episode in and I was hooked. I have found that the show actually has quite a large fanbase in Australia despite the fact that it is not on TV down here - a fact that I am presently working to rectify. I have been bothering the guys at the stations so much that they have finally caved and told me to get the DVDs for them to watch so they can deecide whether they want to go ahead and buy the first season. So I have just bought the DVD boxset and am eagerly awaiting its arival any day now. Of course, the TV execs will have to wait at least a few days for we to watch them myself again (DVD quality - oooooh, shiny!) and create a musical tribute that i have been planning for quite some time now, very much like those Dragon Ball Z music tributes you can get online. Ive always wanted to make one of those but ive never found a show I liked enough to put the effort into until now. I just hope that it will turn out as good as I hope it will and that I can put it on this site for everyone to enjoy. Anyway tell me what you think.

Luke

P.S.
funnily enough, everyone that knows me reckons Id im an absolute shoe in for the part of Vegeta in the new Dragon Ball Z movie. Im toying with the idea of sending in an audition tape, but if i ever make an acting depute, id rather save myself for a part on firefly

Oh and by the way guys, Im not exactly what you'd call a classical sci-fi fan, which goes to show how much this show goes beyond the genre to become something more. so some sci-fi references may just fly straight over my head

Ill try to keep up though lol.

Got a job to do? I'll do it; dont much care what it is...

Welcome, Luke! Best of luck convincing TPTB in Australia to air the episodes on TV. That would be a great way to increase the fanbase in advance of the movie! (I still say SciFi channel should be showing them here in the states before the movie comes out too!)

Thanks Shiny. It would be great if it was on foxtel, but there are alot of people in Oz withough Pay TV. And we only have three decent free-to-air stations. im targeting the free-to air ones so that EVERYONE gets to see that show. If I have my way, by the time the movie trailer comes out, my fellow Aussies wont be saying "ooh, that looks like a good movie, I wonder what its about", they'll be saying "oh my god! theyre making Firefly into a movie, Cool!!!"

Welcome to the board Luke. It is always a pleasure to welcome a new browncoat to the site. Hope to see you posting often w/ us.

Best of luck on getting a station down under to broadcast Firefly. It would be great if they did as it would mean a flood of new fans.

Welcome to the fold fellow Browncoat. This is one of the best online communities in the world. We all understand that we were in on the ground floor of something VERY special, something that as far as Television goes, probably won't ever be surpassed, and we all love it very dearly. It's good to have another fan on board with us, because one more fan means one more DVD set, and one more ticket to Serenity. And also, one more friend. Welcome aboard.

"It is her turn."

Bewdie! We'll be cheering for you.

No, not Australian. I did spend 10 months in a cubicle next door to one, however. Learned a bit of Strine, like bewdie, stirling, good on you, crikey and the like. He was sorry to see me go when the contract ended, saying, "She's the only one who understands me." I've since learned what "root" means downunder, which is why I never "root" for anything anymore, I cheer. I also know what it means to get hit by the dunny door - aptly describes what happened to Firefly when it was on the air, don't you think?

Welcome aboard, mate! We need all the battlers we can get.

Hey Luke,

Welcome to the board!

I think you're doing a terrifc job in getting Oz to have Firefly. Have you thought of pestering your local paper's tv columnist? That's how I got props for TXF in St. Louie back in the day...

Keep up the good work!!
