Oh, that I understand! I can't even stand the trailers for 2012. If the planet is falling apart beneath you why are you flying along the ground instead of climbing out of the mayhem? It just looks AWEFUL!

So, I guess that means no time travel....rats!

And NEVER go into a Roland Emmerich (2012, Day After Tomorrow, Independence Day, 10000BC) film expecting a great story.

I think I can shorten that statement to "Never go into a Roland Emmerich movie," and have it work even better! I like John Cusack, but just the previews for that 2012 garbage make me cringe. It just looks awful, and I'm sure they're only showing the GOOD parts. :)

The reason there are more of those is that generally, they do better, and they're more likely to succeed even without story, etc, so they can be churned out easier.

Remakes are always popular because it's easy to rehash old stuff than come up with new and interesting ideas. Same with remakes. All the characters and stuff are set up, so it requires less effort in development and marketing. A sequel has a legion of fans already.

By this rationale, we should be seeing Serenity 2 any year now! :)

Hey, here's to HOPING that you're correct, and we do.

well DEFINITELY hoping.

If Serenity's legion of fans is big enough, it'll happen. Unless of course Universal doesn't want to deal with Fox again. And that wouldn't surprise me too much.

Yeah, I'm standin' by my earlier assumption! The only good thing I really liked so far this year was the very last five minutes of Toy Story 3. Saw The Last Airbender over the weekend... Don't pay for the 3-D version... Both Hubby and I thought it coulda been waa-ay better. I miss Sokka'a one liners and was slighly disturbed to find Indians(dot not feather) playing what I thought was a traditionally Asian role? Considering the fire nation is voiced by asian actors? Anyone care?

Weellll
I usually am pretty harsh on movies, and therefore don't really go to see them to often. But yes, I am pretty sure that there were some really bad movies this year; but isn't that true of most years? I haven't heard a single good thing about the Airbender movie...or really very many movies at all. I was disappointed with the Alice in Wonderland movie, although that wasn't too bad.

But Toy Story 3 was great. It made me cry a lot.

I wonder if the directors are startin' out all over again in kindergarten and in 12-15 years they'll actually be making good stuff again? I miss the whimzy of the late '80's-early 90's... 'Course there isn't so much to be whimsical about these days...

kickass and the Hangover are the only movies I've seen this year that I liked. Am Gonna go see Toy Story 3, and am sure I'll like that too...nothing else appealed to me enough for me not to wait for it to come out on video.
