I thought it was a mismatched piece of crap with well staged action scenes, but to each his own.

It was a movie developed with some very flawed ideas to begin with (some of the worst of which were excized during shooting, but there are related plot points that remain), that was majorly overhauled to suit a star's ego just before shooting, and was all designed to build toward a specific ending, which got leaked online so they ditched it and patched a new one together with voiceover. Plus, the director had a habit of throwing out scenes and making up new sequences on the fly, further muddying the plot and sapping any thematic content. I feel mismatched is accurate - it's a hodgepodge of different ideas, some good some bad - none very well thought out, and none either fully developed or entirely dropped. Oh, and the magical McaGuffin girl was annoying and just lazy, lazy writing.
T3 had some lame humor and unnecessary plot threads, but on a script level it's a more coherent piece.

I just watched it again last night, and I still feel it's entertaining for what it is. Which admittedly isn't so much.

Cheers for that buddy, at least now I don't have to watch the whole movie again just for those few bits. Definitely not worth the bother as it didn't really add anything.

What was really annoying was, when the theatrical cut came out, McG (the director) said the DVD/BR would have a director's cut which would add a minimum of 35-45 minutes, totally reworking the storyline and including the original ending. He even said specifically that it wouldn't be one of those director's cut's that just adds 3-4 minutes.
So what they come out with, a director's cut with 3 extra minutes, and a description of the original ending.

Neither.
He may have originally meant it. But if Christian Bale had enough power to substantially alter the film first time round (especially the ending) he could easily stop it happening on DVD. Or the studios just decided they weren't going to do it McG's way. Or they'll release an 'Ultimate Cut' and try to make even more money.
