I'll certainly be going to the 2005 Worldcon in Glasgow. Any plans for there yet?

I'll be at the Boston worldcon. It seems like the perfect chance for a shindig.

Hey Jess
drinking anymore bubble tea?
anyway I was hoping we get get some definate plans going for WORLD CON so I could decide if I want to pay for a day (or 2) -stay overnight (though I think the hotel is sold out)
what night to plan on a FIREFLY MEET-UP
this would be the perfect place to gather more browncoats to our cause--especially if we could get a room where we could SHOW episodes to those wandering around just looking for that something to do or see
Also, I can kill you with my brain.

Yup!
Being able to show episodes would be great - we could lure people in with snacks, they'd start watching, then before they knew what was happening they'd be hooked.

Its not tooooooo early to start thinking about this
Btw does your email accept attachments--I tried sending you those I promised and got undeliverable

My husband and I will also be at Noreascon/WorldCon this year. We will keep an eye out for others of our ilk but I don't guarantee anything. WorldCon is always a zoo.
I am not a copyright lawyer nor do I play one on TV; however, friendly word of advice: Be careful where, how, when and to whom you show Firefly at the con.
WorldCons and other SF&F conventions go through a lot of effort to get express permission to show copyrighted works. If either of you are associated in any way with the con (even as volunteer staff), showing Firefly to the general public without express permission from the copyright holder might be construed as the con showing it and that could land you and the con in hot water. WorldCons are unremunerated labors of love performed by not-for-profit organizations who really have neither the desire nor the resources to deal with lawsuits. So, give 'em a break for my sake: have fun but, in general, try to stay out of the kind of trouble that results in court appearances.

RiverGirl,
Don't mistake what I said. The DVDs are licensed for private showings. I believe it's only if you are associated with the con or charge admission or some such thing that you might get into trouble. Be careful is all. Read the FBI warning for real and, if you are associated with the con, ask for advice about showing it. Be sure to have fun while you are there, too!

no I am not with the con = have yet to even decide to buy a ticket ((major part of my budget - that would be)) I was just hoping to gather some browncoats here to fix something up for us all to get together and maybe gather some new prospects
that would decide me to buy a ticket--at least for the day of the shindig
I dont know anything about World Con ((just some smaller fanish ones) do you think Universal would have some sort of precense there--or could we beg them too--maybe handing out a post card of Serenity or some sort of publicity ?
