Sooooo..... have recently discovered that the brilliant and talented graphic designer Geoffrey Mandel has been working on "Serenity". I've been a fan of Geoff's work since "Space: Above & Beyond", and I can't tell you how pleased I am by this news, and how much I'm looking forward to seeing his artistic contribution to the Big Damn Movie. Really, there are no words for how freaking cool I think that is... I'm an art student and would like to grow up to be Just Like Geoff. Except for the part where he's a man and I'm not. I can do without the whole man thing.
In other good news, you can see some of Geoff's artwork for "Serenity" on the Internet. There are some ads, a new "Serenity" logo, a "worlds of the Alliance" chart and some nifty insignias and maps and such.

Some interesting stuff there... but look at the one in the bottom left corner.
Does that or does that not look like a map of star systems? Separate solar systems linked together?
Seems to support the galaxy of Earths/FTL model, don't you think?

On the contrary, looking at the tiny arcs of planetary orbits around that one on the left, I think it pretty clearly supports the star cluster/multiple star system theory.
But then, that just goes to show that we all find what we're looking for.

I think it looks like an out of scale map of a Single system.

I don't think so... most of the bodies have a 'glow' around them, which strongly suggests they are stars rather than planets. A few of them show planetary orbits.
However, I agree with Sikkukut that we'll probably see it however we want to... unless/until the BDM clears the matter up. Presuming it does of course.

Man, I so want to see a "Worlds of the Alliance" where you can READ THE NAMES of the planets. We so need a bigger picture of that.

Anyone else notice the minor spoiler in the graphic?
Select to view spoiler:
The newscast screen in the upper right confirms that Lilac is the planet that has been attacked by the Reavers. (The pictures from Duke333's day of shooting as an Alliance EMT includes a 'Welcome to Lilac' sign.)
It also appears that Mr. Sparkle is one of the broadcast's sponsors.

And is that a picture of a Reaver as part of that broadcast?

Definitely minor spoiler there EvilMike. Looks like a confirmation of what we have seen in other threads.
The lower right hand corner is some sort of currency. Very shiny.
I would certainly like to see larger versions of the star chart and "Worlds of the Alliance" pic. It would come in handy in our Firefly RPG.
