**Possible Spoilers**...My theory on the missing crew member

So everyone who's seen the script or is involved in the making of "Serenity" (like Jewel Staite for example) have admitted one cast member will be asbent from a lot of the film as a result of scheduling. I couldn't help but ponder who this would be. We know its not Nathan (he's the star) or Jewel (she would have said if she was the one in her interview). So I started checking imdb.com (international movie database). Sean Maher, Ron Glass, Summer Glau, Adam Baldwin, and Morena Baccarin do not have any current features in production. Alan Tudyk's movies have all wrapped, but Gina Torres is listed as "currently filming" both "Serenity" and "Beauty Shop" (starring Queen Latifah). If I had to guess, I'd say Zoe will be the one who has a small role *sadly*. I'd hate to think Gina would miss out on "Serenity" for "Beauty Shop," but she may have been contractually obliged. Anyone else got a theory regarding who this "missing crew member" will be?

I was actually thinking it would be either Book or Wash, since I've heard they were the last ones to sign up for the BDM. I was leaning towards Alan, much as I don't want that to be true, since he has two movies that just came out. Granted, they're out now, he's not actually filming them, so maybe that's not so logical...

I was also under the impression that the 'missing' crew member would be Book or Wash (and that just comes from those characters being the last two added to press reports). It could be that either actor has to be on location or on set of a movie that hasn't started shooting yet but which will start before Serenity wraps - IMDB may not have it listed yet (it's not always up to date and/or accurate).
Or one of the actors could be committed to doing press etc for something else.
Or be required for pre-production (table readings etc) for something else.
Honestly, I don't know. I'm not sure about the last 2 since I don't know much about how that works and contractual obligations etc.
I'm just happy they're all there!!!

With the miracles of editing even though someone can't be on the set 100% of the time they could still have a presence in the movie. Though that might make it a bit harder for others to film scenes with them.

Joss wrote the script - therefore Joss worked out the character arcs - therefore you won't miss a thing because you'll be to busy drooling and mumbling something along the lines of.....
"This is one Big Damn Shiny Firefly movie!"

Or possibly the statement most commonly heard by Whedon fans...
"How DARE you do that Joss? I HATE YOU!" (Then followed by a line on the movie so brilliant you quickly fall back into the swing of things, and your undeniable love for Joss and his 'verse returns in an instant.)
Though this is coming from a girl who has always been bitter about many, many Buffy episodes... ^_^

Well, it IS Joss Whedon.
He might be kind enough to us browncoats to avoid the killings, but who knows? WHO KNOWS?!?!

Sadly my money is on Wash. Some of Book's mysterious past is supposed to be either hinted at or revealed in the BDM, so Book has to be in the movie on at least a regular basis. Wash on the either hand can be written off as "staying on the ship".
"May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one."
