As far as survival goes, I almost picked Mal, but I'm going to have to go with River, with the brilliant brain. She'd have had Gillian and company off that island before they could have unpacked Ginger's luggage (who takes that much stuff on a three hour tour?).
As far as just killing time on an island. . . . Simon. He's just yummy.
