Sadly, I'm inclined to agree - I'm in the UK and don't have Murdochvision, and have only seen the pilot - which was OK but didn't really inspire me to watch the rest. As long as the bit where Morena finally eats the rat (if it gets made) shows up on YouTube, I'll be happy.
Lets summarize the problem: we all know the story and it was quite a good one, even if the ending was a bit cheesy*. The makers of new V seem to think that is an excuse to fast-forward over much of the set-up we had in the original - even the revelation that the Visitors are lizards in disguise is just chucked in as a bit of exposition. Meanwhile, the big point of departure from the original story is, er, the Visitors sent an advance "softening up" party and the fifth column (which was present in the original) had a hand in setting up the resistance.
With the Battlestar Galactica remake (the success of BSG2000 must have been a factor in making V2009) it was made very clear from the start that this was going to be much darker and grittier than the original, was going to go back to the basic premise of humans trying to survive after a genocide and not visit any casino planets run by the monster-of-the-week**. New V just feels like a re-tread of old V with better special effects and added Morena). I'd rather watch a re-run (and dream of a Blake's 7 remake with Morena as Servilan!)
(* Note: here in the UK the 1980s "V" and "V: The Final Battle" were originally aired as a single mini-series just called "V").
(** Might also be a UK perspective due to the way original BSG was released here).

Guilty 2.
I've tried, really tried getting into this, but I've found it hard. It just doesn't hold my interest unless Morena or Alan are involved in the episode. None of the other actors have stood out and the most exciting thing was when Morena "mated" with that drone lizard.
Dialogue, set-up, actors, script, pacing all are Meh! It's all paint by the numbers, point A to point B kind of storytelling. Actually, if there was storytelling it would have some teeth. I'd rather watch Firefly reruns. Sorry to say, because I would love for Morena to get some acting kudos for her work in V. At this point, Christina has that market cornered.
P.S. I really did try. Honest.

Looks like it'll be back for season 2! I didn't like the show early on either but it did develop into something entertaining. The season finale certainly did its job of wanting to make you see more.

Meanwhile, The Middle, Modern Family, Cougar Town, and Castle all got renewed, which works for me. I liked Eastwick, but that didn't get much of a run or a chance... I didn't *LIKE* like it, but it was an okay guilty pleasure.

I originally started watching Modern Family because of Ed O'neill but I must say every character is capable of getting big laughs. There really is not a weak one in the bunch which is something considering how many family members get airtime. Great to see that it is coming back.
