Why hasn't SyFy picked up this show?

Firefly kicks the butt of any current series on SyFy. (SG Atlantis, Sanctuary, etc) Why haven't they picked up FF? It would be in their best interests to include this absolutely amazing (for lack of better words) show in their line up.
Has anyone started a "letter writing campaign"? They certainly wield enough muscle to resurrect IMO the best SciFi series ever made.

Whatever works....mOm

Welcome MomCarp,

.. Be prepared to defend yourself to sockpuppetry...

Oh, and yes, people have tried that. Actually, they've fought small wars to try to reinstate firefly.

Seems Fox still owns the "intellectual property" that is Firefly, last I heard. And it seems they ain't selling, at least not cheap.

Meanwhile, the cast and crew have moved on to other things, so it would likely not be cheap to get them all back together.

We'd all love to see more 'verse, but at this point, I've got my doubts.

Nobody would be happier than I to be proven wrong on that, though...

Joss was allowed to shop the show around to other networks, but that was nearly eight years ago and none of them took the bait.

Thanks...
I came to this WAY late, and my son has been educating me on the history of FF.
He said it was placed in a time slot opposite some hugely popular show, it was placed between two other shows that were so horrible, that people TIVOd FF, thereby rendering it incapable of registering a blip on the Nielson radar, etc.
Those other networks are corporate scum toads!
Just very sad...

Thanks for the welcome and the warning!
Our local representative is very sensitive to the needs of his constituents. An exemplary intellect; he probably watched FF.
Time to take it to the next level?... :)

Mike,

Not Inara, that's too expected. He sent buffy to bang a slayer, so I figure that River is destined for something random. Saffron would be a good pick.

Knowing Joss, he would do Kaylee, she's his type, and his type of character to send into a lesbian relationship.

Also, for some reason Zoe, Kaylee and Sierra from Dollhouse are Joss' type. I'm not particularly attracted to any of them, but I recognize that there's something distinctive and similar about there faces, I don't know what it is, but these three women look very similar to me, and clearly, whatever it is, it pushes Joss' buttons a lot harder than Summer, or Chanterelle-Lilly-Ann mushroom vampire girl from Buffy-Agnel, who, BTW, is IMHO one of the most gorgeuous girls I've ever seen in my life, so that's where my buttons are...

Huh? Who? Where? Which way did they go? Not a fan of Buff herself (or maybe Sarah Michelle)--too whiny--but ooo, would I love it! Being Bi myself (sexual AND polar)...

I'm for Zoe...she's strong, and wouldn't it have been strange if, after Wash, she discovered WIMEN? She'd never want another guy!

I don't see Kaylee, she's too man-oriented; yes, Inara already IS, so she's too obvious, but I can see River; a free spirit with no preconceptions, betcha she'd be one to experiment...

Welcome Momcarp, I wondered if you were new--saw you in another thread (where we heartily disagree); new voices/perspectives always welcome!

This discussion's been had on many a thread, many a website (and it blows my mind that there are still so many of them!); what you got here is pretty typical. Except they forgot to mention the budget necessary to do a decent Firefly, which is probably outside SciFi's range (look at what else they put out...I mean Warehouse 13???).

You've already been warned about being charged with sockpuppetry, which I did with the last newbie but am not tempted to do with you; your posts are far too individual, to me. But you should also be warned that RWE is DANGEROUS; if you can hold your own, LOVE to have you, but be aware, it can get nasty down here!

I'm a Niki-come-lately myself, only discovered Firefly by accident a couple of years ago, and that after having rented Serenity, not knowing they were connected. Never been to a fan site in my life, been here ever since! Verrrry special show, verrry special cast, verry special brain in Joss' head!

Hope to see more of you...
