I've tried to watch his flicks but they're awful! They're just a bunch of bad "SNL" skits streched out to 2 hours, THIS HAS TO STOP!! Thank you Paramount for saving us from yet another Will Ferrell flick that takes place in the 70's, there have been too many.

Agreed. The first one just didn't do it for me. Movies with people who are too stupid to successfully feed themselves just make me lose all interest.

At least I can't handle it live action. Homer Simpson was hilarious when I used to watch the simpsons. Even he seems to be over the top dumb if I ever catch an episode these days.

Strangely enough I'm still kinda a Will Ferrel fan. In small doses his one character that he plays in everything he's ever been in can be sorta funny. Like in Elf!

It's probably easier to take because Elf is more of a genuine and sincere take on the role, and it's uplifting. Will Farrel technically is a scene stealer and the main in Elf as well.

Glad to see I'm not the only one who can't stand this waste of space.
I'm a big Kevin Smith fan but the worst thing he ever did was not putting J-Lo in one of his movies. It was putting Ferrell in Jay And Silent Bob Strike Back. To me he just isn't funny to the point where I will avoid any movie with him in it.

Haven't see it. So, that could be true.

I'm going to venture a guess, and there is no offense intended here, that everyone posting thus far in the i-hate-will-ferrell-thread is over 40. I think it's a generational thing. There are so-called "dumb" comedians from twenty years ago that I just don't get. As a twenty year old, I really enjoyed Anchorman and tend to love it whenever Will Ferrell pops up, be it in Stranger than Fiction, Wedding Crashers, SNL, The Producers or a recent episode of 30 Rock.

With that said, I'm neither saddened nor elated about the nixing of Anchorman 2. Maybe it would have been good (for those of us who like that sort of thing) but we all know what the number '2' tends to inflict on movies.

I don't think it has much to do with a generational gap, as I am not over 40 and find Will Ferrell extremely annoying (except in Zoolander which I found him actually funny in). I more or less think it has to do with taste. Most of what Will Ferrell's humor consists of stupid, pervy, or campy, and obviously caters to a certain crowd (and I mean no offense when I say this).

I have heard good things about Stranger than Fiction though and I should make a point of seeing it.

And you raise a good point about the sequel curse. It seems to be the rule that movie sequels, particularly comedy sequels, are usually terrible, with few exceptions.
