"Enterpise" was a big fat mistake, Archer gets a big fat zero!

They sould have started with Captian Robert April, on TV and the new flick.

What? No Sisko? Or will there be a Sisko vs. Sheridan vs. Sinclair thread later :-)

Romance: how on Earth does Janeway beat Picard on Romance? Her only real romantic interest (unless you count Q) ended up hitched to Seven of Nine. ISTR Picard having a couple of romantic entanglements (even assuming his history with Guinan was entirely platonic) and eventually landed Dr Crusher (wibbly-wobbly timey-wimey issues aside).

Ego: I'd also put Janeway at 8-9 on the ego scale, and Picard a bit lower - he had an easily-offended sense of dignity but that's not quite the same as self-importance.

Intelligence: Come on... Picard by a mile - the only captain to get by without a Vulcan sidekick to do the heavy mental lifting.

Sorry about the Sisko issue.

I left him out for two reasons

1. I haven't watched the entire run of DS9.
2. Based on what I watched, he is a very good decision maker, but DS9 is drifts just a tad too far from "traditional" Trek.

I'll just include all the ones you're snubbing:

Toughness:
Mackenzie Calhoun (Excalibur): 11 (as evidenced by the scar on his face that he sealed closed with a red-hot knife, without anesthetic. )
Katerina Mueller (Trident): 10 (though her facial scar isn't quite as badass as Calhoun's.)
David Gold (daVinci): 5 (he's a thinker, not a fighter.)
Sonya Gomez (daVinci): 6 (speculating, based on her skills as Gold's XO --I haven't really seen her in action since he retired.)
Kira Nerys (DS9): 9 (growing up during the Occupation.)
William Riker (Titan): 8 (his best friend is a Klingon.)
Ezri Dax (Aventine): 6 (she's small, but scrappy.)
Asfarah Eden (Voyager): 7 (tough as nails.)
Cmdr. Elias Vaughn (Defiant, acting-Captain): 10 (human Starfleet Intelligence officers don't live into the triple digits without being scary-tough.)

Strategic mindset:
Calhoun: 7 (he's his world's "Alexander," but he relies too much on brute force and attitude.)
Mueller: 7 (she takes after Calhoun.)
Gold: 10
Gomez: 10
Kira: 10 (again, the Occupation taught her how to fight smart.)
Riker: 8
Dax: 7
Eden: 6
Vaughn: 10

Romance:
Calhoun: 6 (married to Admiral Shelby, but was never much of a ladykiller before that.)
Mueller: 1 (a long succession of one-night stands, no "relationships," just sex.)
Gold: 10 (a devoted husband with a small army of children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and a couple of great-great-grandkids by now.)
Gomez: 5 (her One True Love died just before he could propose.)
Kira: 8 (AFAIK, she and Odo are still a couple, even though he's on the far side of the galaxy.)
Riker: 10 (Riker's romantic exploits are legendary, even if he is now married.)
Dax: 3 (broke up with Julian, has apparently not had a serious relationship since [or before, for that matter].)
Eden: 3 (BAD: married a patronizing self-obsessed blowhard. GOOD: divorced the jackass.)
Vaughn: 6 (was married. Wife is dead, daughter estranged.)

Intelligence:
Calhoun: 4
Mueller: 4
Gold: 10
Gomez: 9
Kira: 7
Riker: 8
Dax: 8
Eden: 9
Vaughn: 10

Ego factor:
Calhoun: 11 (when Shelby first said she loved him, his immediate [and totally sincere] response was "As well you should.")
Mueller: 10
Gold: 8
Gomez: 7
Kira: 8
Riker: 9
Dax: 7
Eden: 9
Vaughn: 6

Likeability:
Calhoun: 5
Mueller: 4
Gold: 10 (Gold is like your fun Grampa who used to tell the funny stories at Thanksgiving.)
Gomez: 8
Kira: 8
Riker: 9
Dax: 9
Eden: 4
Vaughn: 9

HAHAHA!!! I kept thinking WHO IS CAPTAIN REYNOLDS????

Looks like he's pretty low in the Strategic, and Romance dept.

Good critique Chris.
