God damn, what a movie. Awesome from start to finish, Nicolas Cage with a rare brilliant performance and break out performances from Aaron Johnson and Chloe Moretz.. Definitely a movie of the year contender for me.

"Summer Glau can simply walk into Mordor.."

Might have to check it out. Looked good, and hope it lives up to expectations.

Thanks for the input.

Bones: "Don't 'rawr' her!"

Ok, how'd you pull this off since it opens on the 16th?

Never mind, I was pysched from the previews and had it on my "must watch opening day list" - Ok, call me a nerd but there are some habits that die hard. Ever since my Star Wars days I try to watch an anticipated (by me of course) movie on opening day.

I'm like a big kid at Christmas when it comes to certain movies, especially Kick-ass ones like this (pun intended).

I'm in...........especially after your raving review.

Thanx

You read me like a book.

I will probably never see the film. My financial status is in a low "ebb". Me and Jack are having a bad year.

YES!
I saw this opening night with a group of friends, and we all loved it. It was one of my most anticipated movies of late (Scott Pilgrim anyone?) and it didn't disappoint at all. Was exactly what I thought it would be, kick ass! (How many times has that joke been made? 42 billion)
Chloe Moretz is turning out to be a great young genre star (currently shooting Let Me In, the US remake of Let the Right One In) and Nicholas Cage portrays Big Daddy with campy brilliance.

My friend turned to me about 30 seconds into the credits, after our collective "OH MY GOD THAT WAS BRILLIANT!" and said "if we drive to there's another screening at 11pm!"
He was serious.

Hopefully this won't be as underrated as Matthew Vaughn's last picture, the fantasy flick Stardust, which I thoroughly enjoyed also, even after I had no intention of seeing it due to the mediocre trailers. Saw it because it was the only thing on one day, and have watched it many a time since.

ETA: Also, since some people have major problems with it, I feel I should warn everyone that the film features.... the Creatively Used Naughty Talk word....
yes. read between the lines.
Also, said word is used by a 10 year old. It's funny, assuming you're fine with that word being used. Just a friendly warnin'. This ain't a film for your Spiderman loving kids. It's rated MA (R? in US?) for a reason. And yes, a parent brought his 10 year old kids to our session, and yes, they left after about half an hour.
